Those ships look blurred... and not in the good way. Smudged.

That's nice, but all ships are in the upper part of the image and there is nothing at the lower part.

I like it, but what are you using to render the ships? theres something definitely amiss about them... like they've got a really high reflective property or something...

Well for the render thing I don't really see it but it might be that they're well over 2000 meters out.

I also used a sky light to simulate the sun's light effect where the flared sun would end up.

As to nothing in the bottom of the image, that was done on purpose, not every render should have ships or what not in every area of the image,....sometimes it's a different view point  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Not every angle you look from while show you an object in every visible place.

I'll prolly just wipe this one and play with something else thou ,didn't think it was that torn up  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

Alright... the art doctor is IN!  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

First the good: I like the ship placement against the background a lot- the only complaint I have there is the cut-off Aeolus.

Also, the engine glows are looking good. Not overdone, but still visible.

And now the bad...
Something DID get messed in the rendering. The ships look fuzzy, and I think that the shadow effects backfired on you.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) The planet looks like it got hit with a pair of rusty scissors, and I sortof have a thing against lens-flare suns- especially when the result is a green blob at the bottom corner.

How much of the ship placement and scaling is post-render? If you're making the ships smaller after rendering, then maybe you need to try a different scaling program.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Keep up the good work Warlock!

Ahh, finally registered.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Well, Definately the shadows are all wrong.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)  The sun is almost behind earth, yet you see the  half the planet.  Ships don't seem to have enough shadows on them.  The blur might be from the JPG.  It reports you used Adobe Photoshop Photoshop 4.0, you might have done something in there to blur it up.

I like the placement, but there are a lot of technicalities (shadows - ships not positioned in middle of pic - textures) which spoil it.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif)
