Title: 'Tis All in the Marketing (aka Of Good Games and Good-Selling Games)
Post by: Sandwich on December 22, 2004, 03:59:18 pm
Half Life 2: Good reviews (9.2 out of 10 (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/halflife2/review.html)), well marketed = mega-seller
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay: Good reviews (9.3 out of 10 (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/chroniclesofriddick/review.html)), not marketed very well = fairly poor seller
Freespace 2: Great reviews (9.4 out of 10 (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sim/freespace2/review.html)), not marketed much at all = very poor seller

Ironic.

If you shout at the top of your lungs that something is good people will try it to see if it really is good.

If you don't shout no one will hear about it.
