Title: Why does Alpha 1 always get the fighter with the crappy jump drive?
Post by: Carl on December 24, 2004, 10:33:57 pm
You know how when you press alt-j to jump out, and it takes about 5 seconds for it to power up, then the vortex opens up and you go through it? well, play a mission and C-3-0 your wingmen. they jump out instantly.not a split second between you pressing enter and their vortexes opening up. just thought i'd point that out.

His hero shields affects the subspace motivator. A larger energy output is needed to form a vortex, so it takes time to charge it up.

Some versions burn the subspace motivator right out. They recalled the 3.6VE because of that.

It's DaveB's fault. I blame him.

:lol:

Yes,  the power required to slow down lasers and confuse enemies is deducted from the amount usually allotted to the subspace drive. On Very Easy, so much power was required that the subspace drive stopped working entirely. (This is also why enemies always seem to start hitting you after you start going into subspace - the 'stupidity field' is at its lowest level then.)

The bugfix, of course, was to use Microsoft Clippy as the enemy AI on Very Easy.

[Glow=Green]Rational Explanation:[/glow]
So the player has a cahance to cancel jumping out by pressing Esc

[glow=red]alternative explanation[/glow]
Because there is an invisible wall in front of the fighterbay which has to be taken down for Alpha 1 to go through when he exits into his/her destroyer's fighterbay.  The others don''t have to do this cos they can go through the invisible wall.

becouse wingmans are prepar for jump and wait for signal ( listen to some wingmansvioce when you give them order to jump out  ) to press the jump button:D Subspace engiens are all time ready to go.
Alpha one must warmup subspace engiens and thats why he must wait and pray that any hostiel ship shoot him down:p

Has anyone actually been killed (except by a supernova or self-destruction) while the subspace portal is open?

LOL! Good work on the clippy pic.
By the way, iv noticed in MP, when you are the host, and wing leader. And you end game, they jump out right away too, even tho their humans, and you take longer. Its only a viewpoint mode thing that just hapens. Everyone takes a while to warp out, if ur humans, It shows YOU, being any human player, going slow, and everyong else fast. Its just a veiwpoint mode or something i beleive. Right?
