Title: "No Mercy" (Sorry about the 500K size)

The original had a small eclipsed sun in the lower right corner. It was meant to be out in the distance but I wasn't sure how well that looked. If anyone wants to see it I can post it also.

Those clouds look ****ed.....sorry dude, but they do.

It's the color.....bright red clouds just don't look right.

Those red clouds look strange, and Maras usually don't have blue engine glows. But I like it anyway.

Less intense red would be better.  Remember you're dealing with the tops of the clouds, not the bottoms.  So you're getting lost of reflection.  Like a raincloud is grey at the bottom but white at the top.

The clouds keep drawing my attention, because they are so bright and big  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) But it would be nice if you could get some gunfire - see what you can figure out, play around, because right now it's like 'great... I have a Terran Mara in front of me... maybe I'll tail him.' Planet looks much better.

Problems: Mara shouldn't have blue glow, lasers too small and close togethe, and the planets all imply a sun facing a different direction.

On the other hand, the engine glows look right(except for the color on the mara,) the angle is cool, and the Viper(right?) model looks awesome.

I only saw 1 problem that has not yet been pointed out: the Hornet Missiles. From that distance you would not be able to launch 3 hornets before any detonated. The most you would be able to fire is 2. Also, they spawn almost immediately after launch.

Well the Mara I know is wrong...I just didn't feel like redoing the render process  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

As for the weapons fire, it's the Laser Gatling, a full blast can fire even more than that  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

As for the sun,..it would be off the lower left corner,...the reason the moon has it's shadow that way is the light being blocked by the main planet itself,..the third planet is so far out in the backgroud that the main planet is not blocking much of the incoming light.

Umm I think you're confusing hornets with Piranna missiles.
1. i've gotten many kills in SW with a dual tornadeo shot at under 5k hitting with all 8. Being the Torn is simply a beefed up Hornet, same thing applies.

2. spawn? Yep you're thinking Piranna. Hornets are multi-launch missiles, single fire one shot launches 4 missiles immediately, nothing spawns them. The objective point in this render is showing them merely a second after being fired thus only three have cleared the launch tube at the time.
