Title: Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
Post by: MicroPsycho on December 30, 2004, 10:22:21 pm
Has anyone played this game? Its so damn cool. Throwing axes and swords at people and cutting them in half and using the free-form fighting system is awesome. And it has an intrigueing story to boot. I like the new darker look of the game, much better than Sands of Time which I think looked too childish(I've never played it for that reason). If you haven't checked it out yet do so.  Warrior Within Demo (http://princeofpersiagame.com/us/demo.php)

I liked Sands of Time a LOT more - it stayed far closer to the prince's character established in the previous games. He's supposed to be a light-hearted, charming sort of guy. In this version he's just XTREEM3 all the damned time.

Also that demo is a real let-down, the final boss of it is buggy as hell, and re-starting the level everytime he gets stuck in a corner is a serious pain in the ass.

I want Farah back. And my Orchestral score, and that wonderful balance of platforming acrobatics. They should leave all the extreme  asshole-ishness in Tony Hawk or whatever.

Yeah, the extreme l33t m2t|_|r3n3zz is a serious flaw. I actually enjoyed the music, but the story and the mood left a lot to be desired.

And the final boss sucked.

That aside, it was still damn fun. Not as fun as Sands of Time, but still.

Sands of Time was light years ahead.

POP has always been a rather light sided puzzle game. every once in a while they throw an enemy at you just to break things up a little. but the new WW seems like it's trying to be both a combat and a puzzle game. it doesn't work near as well, and it's really a let down to fans of the original games, who get these sequels for the damn puzzles.

and i have no idea why the f*** Ubi decided to go dark. but they went way to far over the top and the result is laughable.

It's so they can sell it to more kiddies who like blood guts and heavy metal, I guess.  Obviously they didn't realise that PoP:SoT failed because it was released at the time o' doom when every sodding game in the planet is released in the same 2 weeks.

Not to mention that they "forgot" to fix the damn camera moves, again...
And that they "forgot" to test the damn thing before releasing...
And that they ruined the sound with all the loud music being all you get to hear...
And... and... Oh well.

Oh well. I liked it better than SoT, mainly for story and combat reasons. For the most part I enjoyed the mood, music and style of SoT more though. And I'm fairly certain they're bringing Farah back in the next one, assuming a next one will be made.
