Post by: Trekker on January 04, 2005, 03:45:34 pm
Hi, every time i try and run FS2_open (3.65) i hit a porblem

Warning: Cannot load hud ani: 2_radar1

File:E:\Languages\Visual Studio Projects\threepointsix\fs2_open\code\Radar\Radar.cpp
Line: 347

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
    game_init()    WinMainSub()    WinMain()    WinMainCRTStartup()    kernel32.dll 7c816d4f()
------------------------------------------------------------------

(when running the debug exe)

Error: Could not load in 2_ChoosePilot-m!
File:E:\Languages\Visual Studio Projects\threepointsix\fs2_open\code\UI\WINDOW.cpp
Line: 207

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
    kernel32.dll 7c816d4f()
------------------------------------------------------------------

(when running the normaly exe)

Now i am no expext but it looks like its trying to find the files ened on my dvd drive?

:welcome:

have you installed the HOTU version without the hi-res artwork?  that may be the problem.  if sparky_hi_fs2.vp is not in your freespace2 directory then this is the case.

to get around this problem then you must either:
a) find sparky_hi_fs2.vp from FTP servers community members have set up.
b) run in 640x480 mode

If you're new and not the original cobra using a alt-nick boy did you choose a poor username. You're going to get some serious flak over that one :D The original cobra isn't the most popular person on the board at the moment.

:welcome: anyway.

The path that the error message is giving you isn't important. It's simply the path that was used on the computer beloning to whichever programmer compiled FS2_Open 3.6.5.

What's important is where your own paths. Have you installed 3.6.5 to your freespace2\ folder? It doesn't like being in a different folder to the .vp files.

Juding from the error it's giving you I'd say that it can't find sparky_hi_fs2.vp. Do you have that file in the same folder as FS2_Open? Are you trying to run in anything other than 640x480?

EDIT : Hmmmm. Looks like the Forum weirdness we're currently experiencing decided that my answer was better and jumped it ahead of Phreak's :D

@Phreak: Don't worry...it's happening all over the board...some strange fluctuations in the space-time continuum ;)

EDIT: Makes the thread kinda unreadable though

Thanks

Whatever Gamespy server that hosts HLP has the system clock set wrong. How the users are able to manipulate this (although unwittingly) is beyond me.

Most likely, those of us on the proxy are being directed to one rig, and the remaining users are being directed to another.

I suggest checking out this site (it was WMColmon AFAIK who wrote this section):

http://dynamic6.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/index.php?pagename=Downloading%20and%20Installing

It's bound to take you through the installation step-by-step and also points out some common problems.

It's Wikki so if anything new happens on your end you can add the stuff directly into the document.

BTW the Wikki is your friend in all SCP related question - the link is up there on the upper right corner at the start of the small feature buttons.

From what I see you're missing new media - the hud tables (.tbl) which are necesarry ever since a modifiable HUD was implemented.

You need to download the core file from the media vp-s, that may solve the problem. (mv_core.vp / mv_cire.zip ~ 1,5 meg)
