That logo i made: that's a temporary one until i can sharpen the image or get the logo from a screensaver.

Trashman: did you try creating a new pilot? if that doesn't work, use FSO. ;)

Do tell me if it turns out that your problem was this one. Also what FRED builds you used would be nice too.

Thread split.  TrashMan, don't post off-topic stuff in Skippy's thread.

K...

I checked. The two missions don't have debriefs at all, so that shouldn't be it...

I used FRED 3.5.5. and FRED 3.5.3 before that...

Trashman, try deleting the actual missions, and renaming the backup missions to "insert mission name.fs2" instead of "insert mission name.bak"  no guarantees but it has solved more than one of my problems in the past with this sort of thing.

Just a precision : try renaming the .bak files only if you can open them with notepad, and only if they contain readable text ;)

2 missions actually..that was a typo...

Wow....now this is strange...

All my Backups files (Backup001 to 009) contain the same mission!

the BAK files of my missions are readable and I tried re-naming them...No luck...

As long as we're on the subject of FRED errors, could someone explain to me this problem?

I open the Team Loadout screen, and see that the Player Entry Delay is set to 138. I say to myself "WTF?" then change it to zero. Testing the mission, I start, and find myself about 2 minutes into the mission (literally, at the start, the mission's gone two minutes). Frustrated, I go back to FRED, and the Delay's back at 138...

Any explanations? Corrections in Notepad doable, or is that impossible with Team Loadout?

This is a nasty retail bug that was fixed early on with the SCP.

FRED never saves the player entry delay, or if it does, it's set at a garbage value.  Editing it in Notepad should fix it.

IIRC the error could be caused by having more than 130 ships in the ships table. If you're encountering that bug beware. Having too many ships in the table can cause other problems so it might be worth trimming some of the unused ones out.

Hmmmm. Send me a copy of one of them at [email protected] and I'll take a look.

No FREDder should ever have to remake that many missions due to a bug.

BTW don't bother with anything other than the mission file. If the mission makes everything show up a ulysses but still works then the problem with the mission itself is solved :D

Tried them. Both of them work fine for me. Didn't try them in-game but both of them opened with no problems in FRED 3.6.5. Try this. Run FRED with no mods installed (i.e make a new data folder and copy the missions there)

The missions should open after only making a complaint about some of the ships being missing.

If that happens then the problem is the mods you are using being incompatible with FRED.

But that's impossible.

All the mods I used in those mission, I am using in some other missions and they all wrok fine....

Want me to show you pictures of it working? ;)

Like I said. Try it to see if you're using a different version of FRED from me. It could simply be that. I was very careful to avoid blaming the mods but if the mission works without the mods and crashes with them then it's either a bug in FS2_Open or the mod itself that is to blame. Either way it's certainly not the mission itself.

if you are using 3.5.5 try keeping the bravos in the same place on the table.  a lesson i learned.

If you don't mind passing them to me, i can try and see what i can figure out as well.
