Just recently I was browsing Gamespot and an ad came up for the game, "The Punisher." The ad ended and the credits screen came up showing the developers and what consoles it was being made for, and other things like that. I was suprised to see the Volition logo at the top, with Volition inc. underneath. Can someone tell me what's going on? I thought Volition was dead!
-
Volition is NOT dead. Please do a search next time before you start an entire thread relating to a topic that we have already discussed well-near a few times.
-
Oh, sorry. Honestly, I don't visit this site that often, and I was rushed anyways. Don't get me wrong, though, this site is awesome.
-
yes, they''ve been working on the game for some time now. hopefully they will get many moneys from it.
-
...many moneys with which to buy their freedom and make that-which-must-not-be-named. :p
But anyway, sorry if I seemed too offensive in my first post, trojan. I had just assumed too many things before I submitted, and I'm glad you enjoy the site. ;)
Oh, and in case you haven't gotten one:
:welcome:
-
I was always under the impresion that Volition was not dead, but generious enough to give us the source code by making it GPLed. Am I wrong with any of this?
-
The code isn't GPL'd. We can't make any money from it for one thing.
Apart from that you're pretty close.
-
the movie is so-so, so what'll that make the game? even if [v] does it...
-
crap probably
-
It would probably suprise you. There are a lot of Punisher comic book fans out there, despite the movie.
-
Stop messing with him guys. Truth is we are all employees of :v: .
Now you guys be nice.
if you have questions you can email Raa. [email protected]
-
Damnit! Shadow! Now I'm gonna get spammed up the proverbial 'wazoo'...

ah, well. I'm only speculating. having only seen two screenshots, I shouldn't really judge. I'll have a real say after I've actually tried it.
-
raa, since when are you an '*@volition-inc'?

since never i guess, read between the lines grim, learn how to read the sarcasm in some posts ;)
-
There's a demo out, right? Supposed to be pretty awesome.
-
Too violent for most reviewers, which is hilarious, I mean, it's The Punisher'.
These people could buy a game called 'Digital Blood dripping down your monitor' and then say 'Ohhh... it's a bit too graphical!'

I'm not seeing this, I'm not seeing this...
Is this what happens when school starts back up? Everyone goes nuts?
-
I might buy it just to support -V-... well maybe not... we shall see :D
-
Check it out before you buy. I made this mistake when I bought Terminator 3.:hopping:
-
i cant read sarcasm. tis a mental difficulty :)
(and no, thats actually NOT sarcasm :p )
-
are you sure it's a mental difficulty? are you sure you're not just stupid?

I beg to differ. Volition is dead. A commando team from here killed them to keep them from making a THQ-controlled FS3.
THQ hired a bunch of other people and called them Volition to hide that fact.

the polymodels are pretty sweet, but the shaders are lacking. it looks flat, as if they haven't done anything with the lights yet.

Yah well i want 'it' bad enough, i dont care who controls it. Just as long as its as good as the others and better, and fixes the storyline, with little or no loop holes and gaps..
-
All the previews I've read of the Punisher have been pretty negative so far... basically amounting to 'it's a Max Payne clone with no bullet-time and scripted torture sequences'

Definately been some staff changes...but that happens. As far as I know, the people running Volition are still the same bunch that announced Descent: FreeSpace back in 1997.

Gah. Don't you people recognize humor when you see it?

Two decent Punsiher reviews:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbx/punisher
I think there's still good folks over there at V, they've just been trying to make enough cash to keep existing as a company after no one bought FS2 and they had to get bought out by THQ.
I'm really curious as to what's next after The Punsiher.
-
ngtm1r, what you don't realise is that IceFire thought you knew about The Plan(TM), and you had gone public with that part...
-
Sorry but, the plan?
-
Yes. The Plan. Join me in my official news coverage in my bi-weekly
:snipe:
Ouch...
Said too much...
-
Not the Plan! :eek2:
-
Yes, the Plan (http://warpstorm.com/community/Smileys/warpstorm/sid.gif)
-
****, don't talk about the plan people. Remember what we were told would happen if we did.
-
Red Faction 3?
-
Ah ****... that hurts. :snipe:
And The Plan™ will be initiated, no matter how many know it.
Ah hell... *pushes red button*
*THQ headquarters explodes*
-
I just saw that on the news... my God, man, what have you unleashed???!!!!!
