Awesome job!

I like the lack of lens flare(in the first pic, anyways.) It looks like you've licked the problem of putting TS renders into Photoshop, and it looks very good. The shadowing is very effective, and even matches the planet in the background. The model looks excellent as well.

Once I've done a little testing I'll upload the POF for the station.

Although be warned,..it will have NO weapons at all. The concept is for a civillian station that relies on outer support for defense. Ai turrets around the station and a rotating escort group of several cruisers and fighters.

My gosh, that is beautiful! An excellent way to show off you having dispelled all your previous rendering problems, and it looks tops! Well not really. I merely did 90% of the background before hand and added the flare after. This works for about 75% of my renders, but th lack of having the ships on a seperate layer from the back ground and the planets etc etc does cause problems with certain render concepts.

Easiest explanation of layers.

Lets look at this image if I did it all in layers

Background

Ship layer

Planet layer

Now I could do many things here. One I could add effects over the planet layer without effecting the rest of the image. Also I could bring the planet layer forward to have a ship passing from being the planet.

Basically layers are just a great way to work on a highly detailed image with less worry of ruining the entire thing. I've got a few standard backgrounds now with 5 planets, 6 nebulas, and 3 suns, all in one photoshop image, all I need to do is select which layers to have visible or not and I can create a crap load of different backgrounds from a single image  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
