All the Renders shown in these forums are excellant, but how are they made. I really want to know.
-
It depends on who's doing them, really. Some people do all the rendering in one program, such as 3DS or Lightwave (high end gfx proggies)
Others use multiple programs and do effects 'post production' in photoshop or the like.
-
By the way.....welcome aboard!
May I ask where you hail from? (technically, how you found out about us)
-
I've known about HLP for some time, was there the day you opened, but have only just signed up.........
-
Welcome to the HLP Forums, then. I'm sure you've checked out all the renders if you've been with us that long. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Anyway, Shrike is right. Everyone does theirs differently. I personally - oh, it's a long story - I use a program my brother wrote (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) But what I used to do was render each ship individually and place them on my canvas, then add all effects in post-production - 'all' meaning suns, lens flares, nebulae, engine glows, ammunition fire, missiles, motion blur, colouring, some shadowing, planets, all that. Blender. I just wish it could load cobs.
-
What can Blender load? It does Dxf, right?
-
Yeah, dxf. Not really anything else, except .blend files, which are really scene files, but are used to import textured models into Blender.
Dxf models aren't textured.
-
Yeh, which is bad. I worked with dxf's while I was doing architecture (which was Hella boring).
Pity 3DX can't import to .blend.
-
It's been requested that they add .blend import to 3DX, though.
-
That's good. What I want is increased flexibility in the lighting setups. Preferably ability to set our own lighting, if not be able to download presets from Right Hemisphere or 3rd party creators.
