I got a chance to play it today on a computer that I could run it full-spec at (With 4xAA enabled, even). Everything looked awesome. The new explosion effects, the ship upgrades, the textures. Damn. :D
In a word, it was awesome. :D
(I have a couple screenshots of a Myrmidon with shadows, but everything I took in OGL didn't come out in the files.)
I can't wait to see what things will look like when the new HTL models are finished (hint hint :p)

meh, I'll get to work on the herc, it just needs LOD and debris, it should be done by morning.
in the last deimos thread I think a final version was posted.

try that out, make sure to extract all the textures as I made LOD texures, and some tweaks may have been made sence the copy of the textures you have

It does look awesome guys. Very awesome. Heck, FS2 is probably the best looking game I own just now.
An another upgrade to the HTL herc? Cool. That thing looks great.
Is someone working on an upgrade to the colossus or the sathanas though? It's not that the HTL fighters don't look great, they do, they just don't stand still long enough for me to really appreciate them in play. The colossus especially is a bit of an eyesore, and has the habit of taking up half the field of view.

Well, post some WIPs then. Better to get opinion early on than produce a massively detailed pof that you put your heart and soul into only to have the community say it's crap.

I'm at a very early stage, I've done just the engines, and I'm not satisfied so they'll probably change. Nothing to show, so.
I was referring to a simple fact: the ship has less than 900 triangles (not counting all the subobjects) when I'll probably end up, considering the size of the ship, with around 10k polys.

Anything you do to the big C would be an improvement. :p

Probably quite true.
To be honest though, I'd be suprised if you could get 10k polys without getting creative. Colossus doesn't seem to have a lot of shape, really, even in the cutscenes - and the texturing doesn't seem to be implying that there are details missing or anything.

then I'm going to be somewhat creative, hopeing that people won't say that it's too beautiful to be the colossus:rolleyes: Maybe I'll post some wips later. it'll be a long job anyway, since I've some job for the sw conversion which has precedence.
Btw, does anybody know if there is a fighterbay? because I can't find it, but IIRC she has a fighter complement

I'm sure she has one, just not sure where it is. But the mission briefing for Their Finest Hour says you can expect no reinforcements for a while because the colossus's fighter bay is damaged.

Do to the colossus what bob did to the deimos.
The fighterbay is near the top and infront of the middle "handle"
It's a little triangular tube if i remember corectly.
If it's not there then just model one in, that's where it was in the cutscene.

I cant say its the best looking game
but the fact that the one that beats it out is HL2, this is still pretty damn good!

Continued: its amazing how far this game has come, someone needs to get like, waaay before vs after shots to really appreciate it, however, both of my original .exe files have a virus, so i cant.

Very nice work Bobboau just one minor nitpick, do something with the guns they look like **** compared to the rest. Few more polys isnt going to hurt framerates much.
Cockpit tex is kinda large too but thats easily fixed.
