Well I am again wishing to add to my cd collection, what cds of rock groups are good that are out there. Just make any suggestion, because I don't have very many so it is likely that I do not have it. I just got My Chemical Romance and Green Day, while they aren't my favorites, I think they are good cds. So, shoot away.

it'll be hard as hell to get there disk(s) if you live outside of southern england though
-
Geneva - Further / Weather Underground
Quite hard to find them nowadays, though; the band split after their second album a few years back. Absolutely brilliant records; they sound a wee bit like this (http://www.amityvilleuk.com/), which is the lead singers new band. But AFAIK they've only released a hard-to-find demo.
Try an er... *cough* musical obtainment source of the P2P flavour *cough* search for 'amnesia valley'; that's probably their best song.

Rock is a very VERY broad term now adays...
Velvet Revolver
Bowling For Soup
Seether
Breaking Benjamin
Chevelle
Shinedown
Three Days Grace

i am quite fond of my copy of dimmu borgir's death cult armageddon :D
-
I don't listen much rock outside Green Day and Dutch stuff like Krezip (Pretty ok, they do sing English. Don't want to know how you're gonna get any CD's of em outside thie little country.)
Dropkick Murphy's are ok too.
-
My Chemical Romance....pretty good cd
-
If you want really good stuff, you can't limit yourself to what's still new. Don't forget Guns and Roses, ACDC, Led Zeppelin etc.

Queens of the stone age - Songs for the deaf

V/Vm Test Records (http://www.brainwashed.com/vvm/newsmain.htm) has the best musical **** ever done, I mean listen to this (http://www.brainwashed.com/vvm/Mp3s/vvmtcd22_vvm_08_animal.mp3) unbeliavable song. That's top art right there.
Serious note: I just spent today listening to Death In Vegas, Meat Beat Manifesto, Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Tomahawk, Underworld, David Holmes and Aavikko. Some Add (N) to (X) and older KMFDM, and a bit of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Emperor, to the mix and you have really weird yet good collection which can drive you totally insane in the work so you end up as a brainless zombie feasting on the flesh of the fallen co-workers whos' lives have been empty and meaningless and full of grey pain so actually you are just helping them by taking that demonoid burden off their skinny shoulders who have carried so many misdeed and wrongs, actually you become a godlike entity with infinite superpowers and can fight gods and **** and you become iridescent so you can just blind all those hot goth chicks that suddenly appeared around you when you were crying in your dorm that is painted black and smells of rotten food and something unpleasant which you are not aware o

****ing hell. Ever heard of full stops? :p
What do you mean by "rock" music, adwight? That's a very broad term, 'specially these days. (Eg. you get some people who think that Franz Ferdinand are a rock band... :doubt: )
Try these for a start:
Rage Against the Machine - self-titled, Renegades, Battle of Los Angeles
(politically-based lyrics. One of the best guitarists in the world - Tom Morello - played with this band. He now plays with Audioslave)
Audioslave - self-titled
(after RATM's singer left, the rest of the band hooked up with Chris Cornell - former Soundgarden vocalist - to form this band. Awesome heavy rock, with Tom Morello's genius guitar work)
AC/DC - anything, but particularly Back in Black, Highway to Hell, For Those About to Rock
(the classic rock outfit. Blues-based riffery and brilliant songs)
Faith No More - anything, particularly Angel Dust, King For A Day
(Hugely respected band. They played songs inspired by everything from 70's soul, to hip-hop, to thrash metal. Fronted by one of the most versatile singers ever - and complete fruitcake -Mike Patton)
Tomahawk - self-titled, Mit Gas
(One of Mike Patton's post-FNM projects. Schitzophrenic weirdness, but brilliant stuff. Buy online - might be hard to find in standard record shops)
EDIT: And Janos, wtf was that.... thing you linked to? :wtf:
EDIT THE SECOND: Ooh, here's a tip for all you black metal fans - go and get Enslaved's new album, ISA. I just got it (on double grey vinyl LP, no less :thepimp: ), and it's fantastic. I've not heard anything like it before. The atmosphere it creates is awesome - awesome as in "whoa, what the hell is that?", not "OMG r0x0r!!11" awesome.
-
My roomate just got the Velvet Revolver CD for christmas. Very good CD.
Myself, I have been listening to Pearl Jam, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and the odd bit of Audioslave.

Matthew Good Band was good, he's not as good since he lost the 'band' part , they're just not the same anymore.
Adwight have you ever heard of Rhapsody (http://www.mightyrhapsody.com/)? quite an interesting band, though you might be hard-pressed to find their cds outside....Europe I guess.

Right now I'm going through a whole Guns N Roses phase - but still listening to Muse and The Cooper Temple Clause quite a lot as well. All worth checking out if you ask me.

I disagree. I liked White Light Rock and Roll Review more than some of MGB's stuff.

meh they are fun. :D
I wouldnt have considered them to fit in this catagory but someone said Greenday so I figured... *shrug*
-
Would - Alice in Chains, listened to that song for the first time in about,3 years, the other day, it still is one of the best songs I've ever heard :)
-
Phreak: I got the new 3 Inches of Blood album (Advance and Vanquish). It's hilarious. :D
MicroPsycho: Rhapsody? Good grief. They aren't particularly unusual, they're a bastion of european Power Metal. Most of their stuff is unrelentingly ****e, but they do the ocasional good song. Can't say the same for ManoWar, though (shudders)... There's a lot of euro-power about, but most of it's dreadful. Sonata Arctica are probably the best one around. I'm not a huge fan, but they're pretty good. :)
Oh, and try these out:
Grand Magus - Monument (megalithic doom riffing, great vocalist)
Goatsnake - I / Dog Days EP reissue on SouthernLord records (more doom, very Sabbath-esque, massive bottom end sound courtesy of Greg Anderson's Sunn-powered guitar. Groooooovy...)
Dragonforce - Valley of the Damned, Sonic Firestorm (hyperspeed power metal. Daft, and you'll either love it or hate it, but it's worth a go. A lot of this is played at black metal speeds...)
Also, some peeps might want to try and find the Demons And Wizards album (self-titled). It's basically Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian (a pretty good, though strange power metal band) and Jon Schaffer from Iced Earth. They're good friends, and they did this album together. Good stuff, and apparently a second one is in the pipeline for this year, so keep 'em peeled...

POISON!!!!
**runs fast**
-
on that note, i'd like to ask Bret Michaels what the hell an unskinny-bop is :wtf:
pyro: I thought the same thing about Deadly Sinners when i first heard it. Its like rob halford got kicked in the balls.
-
Actually, Poison did one song called 'Something to believe in' which, whilst still very...ummmmm 'Poisony' was actually quite acceptable compared to everything else ;)
-
Heheh.
In music news, there was something rather tasty in the charts this week, as Iron Maiden hit number 3 (!!!) with a re-release of their 1982 hit "Number of the Beast" on Sunday :thepimp:. They were beaten only by some Elvis remix and a Pop Idol (or something like it) twat called Steve Brookstein (:wtf: ). Anyone who hasn't sampled this fantastic band would do well to go and buy the single (or better still the album), as this'll be easy to find for the next week or so. Bloody awesome song, and one of my all-time favourites.
