What songs would you want played at your funeral? (If you ask what the point this thread is, I'll just shrug).
- Nearer, My God, To Thee
- Battle Hymn of the Republic
- Eternal Father
- Star-Spangled Banner (dammit, I want them to know I went down fighting for America! :D )
- Adagio for Strings
-
Depressing, this.
Um...
- If you have to go (Geneva)
- Lucky Man (Verve)
- Flower of Scotland (bagpipes only)
- Always look on the bright side of life (Monty Python)
-
Can't say I ever really thought about my funeral. Not gonna start now.
-
Shaun Groves - The Last Notes (http://www.google.com/search?q=Shaun+Groves+-+The+Last+Notes):
[q]There is a part of me
That's only visiting
Torn from eternity
A stranger here
The awkward mingling of
The loveless and beloved
So far from things above
While I am here
So when the last notes of my soul's summer symphony
Go stealing through this old world's cold garden gates
I will hold no fear as You close my book of hours
And the hands of heaven carry me
Carry me home to stay
O Death where is your sting
Your tears and your tremblings
His peace is lingering
Even now
O Grave the battle's fought
Your vict'ry has been lost
To Christ who gave it all
To take me now
(Love, love, love, love)[/q]
-
gin and juice
nothin but a g thang
boys in da hood
.......ok maybe not
-
None - I died in combat, my body was incinerated or thrown into a mass grave (well I can only hope anyway).
-
My choices in music change on a weekly basis. I could never decide something like this.
-
What a weird thread
no idea, i dont intend to die.
-
AC/DC - Highway to Hell
Well, in all seriousness, I'll figure that out when I'm older...well, if I died at my age, I'd like some rock/metal music played...
-
Most likely some stuff by Akira Yamaoka:
The Reverse Will
Tears Of...
Melancholy Requiem
True
Hometown
Cradel of Forest
-
Metallica - One
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Creed - One Last Breath
Linkin Park - From The Inside
Joe Pesqualie - I know a song that'l get on your nerves
;)
-
For the precession:
Amazing Grace - sung acapella
Highlander Endgame Theme
Bonny Portmore
Sacrifice - The music playing when Buffy jumps to her death in the season 5 finale.
For the lowering of the casket:
Flower of Scotland - bagpipes
-
something that would go well with having a bbq. why make it sad?
-
hence why i livened mine up with joe pesqualie's song
-
Hmmm. Tricky one, this...
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast (gotta have this - best song ever ever ever)
Isen Torr - Mighty and Superior (close run thing with NOTB for best song ever...)
Iron Maiden - The Prisoner
Orange Goblin - Some You Win, Some You Lose
Wossisname - Addagio for Strings (you might know it from Platoon, when the guy gets shot up running out of the jungle)
AC/DC - Highway To Hell (outstanding choice, Solatar :D )
Faith No More - Small Victory
Faith No More - Easy
Iced Earth - I Died for You
Iced Earth - Violate (gotta get a singalong going on the chorus for this ;))
EDIT: Ooh, and Goatsnake's cover of Sabbath's Who Are You. Listening to it now. 'tis better than the original - no joke. Heavy as all hell, and it's got a lovely strings synth bit towards the end...
Probably a load of other too, but I can't remember atm. Anyway, my funeral is going to be a huge bash, with load music, lots of beer, and general partying. And everyone has to turn up in denim and bullet belts, and generally have a bloody good time
-
ya m,ine to, i cudnt be bothered to name all the songs i wud want
-
Something Yanni.
and
Halo 2 sountrack - Heavy Price Paid.
-
I want my corpse to come flailing down on a zip line as people are entering while AC\DC's "Highway to Hell" plays. After they get what's left of me down from the line, I will be burned to the tune of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World". And finally my ashes will be entombed in a family vault somewhere in Massachusetts to a bagpipe solo of "Amazing Grace" .
Have a little fun, but don't let that be all they remember when you leave them.
-
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Metallica - Orion (too bad im not worthy to have that played at my funeral)
Metallica - Fade to Black
Pantera - Cemetery Gates

-
lowering of casket - Amazing Grace on bagpipes(preferably live)
Seating of the Family - Who Want's to Live Forever by Queen
-
Well, doubt I'd have any choices, since it changes quite often, not to mention I rarely listen to vocals (prefer the orchestra and instrumental) and I only know the music I've listened upto now (most of which is FS2-related [sad, aren't I?], but the following would be the minimum:
FS2_Cinema
FS2_Intro
Hell's March 1 & 2
Paul Anka's 'Many Men'
Fs2 Revelation, battle theme 1.
Score - RA1
Credits - RA2
Flight of the Valkyries, Wagner
Reqium for a Dream
-
Amazing grace on the bagpipes...only the first 2 verses, the first would be graveside, the second would be about 200 yards away.
-
Some sort of jazz. Something upbeat.
-
dust in the wind- sung by will ferell.....
"you're my boy blue"
-
I don't care. I'm dead.
Oh wait, anything except the Villiage People, Hanson, and the Backstreet Boys.
-
mmm-BOP! shooba! dooby-do-BOP!
-
I intend to be cremated. Thus....
Ring of Fire. :D
-
Navy Hymn - Crimson Tide, or something like that. :)
-
2Pac - Life Goes On
2Pac - Bury Me A G
2Pac - Hit'em Up
2Pac - Until The End Of Time
and
FreeSpace 2, the ending music :D
-
I've got a better idea: Village People - YMCA
I'm definitely doing that.
I'ma have 6 guys dressed up like the Village People being pall-bearers with "YYYY-M-C-A!" blaring from like 6Gw of speakers mounted in the hearse and grave.
And there'll be no warning. They'll be hidden inside the hearse - next-to the coffin - and no-one will know anything till the hearse door finishes opening with a thud, there's a brief silence and from out of the silence comes: "Duuuh-duh-duh, duh-duh da-duh da-duh-duh!"
Then the 6 guys will dance out, slide out the coffin and mini-bounce my to the grave.
Then as soon as my coffin hits dirt, the music will stop, they climb back in the hearse and speed off out of the graveyard without a word.
-
an0n, have you ever felt a the weight of a coffin? I was a pall bearer at both of my grandfather's funerals, coffin's are bloody heavy, so there would be no "mini-bouncing".
-
Yeah, c'z my coffin's gonna be made outta solid marble :doubt:
Obviously if I go to the trouble of arranging it all before my death, I'm going to make sure Body + Coffin !> Strength_of_guys + Bouncing
-
I think something like " Always look on the bright side of life". And something Monty Python style for the eulogy too.
-
Headstone inscription:
He was a very naughty boy!

Even a pine box with an average height/weight person in it is going to be heavy(200+ lbs) and you'll go for a better coffin than that.
-
I was thinking 'stiff cardboard' and having the Village Persons just throw the damn thing into the hole.
And as a general note, there'd be 6 of them, all muscle-bound homosexuals. So I doubt they'd have any trouble hoisting little ol' me and a few pieces of cardboard into a hole.
-
Norman Greenbaum - Spirit In The Sky
Motorhead - Ace Of Spades
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors theme

[color=66ff00]I'm skydiving 'unaided' into a demolition site on my 50th birthday, go out with a bang in my prime. It will be carefully arranged so that my body is projected upwards by the blast milliseconds before hitting the roof.
All this to the tune of 'Blaze of Glory'
Or maybe not... ;)
