Erm. Chinese jets, israeli contracts, American influence....
Oh dear.
-
Good. I don't particularly care for any of the three governments in question.
-
I don't see what problem there is in letting China have a few remote control airplanes. Yes I know they are military. But this is not worth doing this over.
-
...err. It's not a few more, it's ones that were already given them, which our gov't wants to be taken back... sort of like 'indian-giving'.
Or atleast that's what I got from it.
-
Because the Us doesn't want anyone to have the same toys as them?
-
Some lobby group like AIPAC will talk the US government into letting Israel play nice and give the planes back.
-
Bah. Israel always does whatever it pleases anyway... If it truly listened to the US... well... things'd be different (for better or for worse)
-
He's testing several waters.
He's seeing how loyal Israel are and how militarily aggresive the Chinese are willing to get.
-
That shows just how odd the Israeli government is. They don't wanna piss anyone off over this, but when it comes to important issues, they couldn't care less. Makes you wonder...

I think you have it the wrong way around.

as much as need be. Strangely, I don't hear any accussations about the US being agressive for possesing such weapons, but rather about the Chinese playing catch-up.

Perhaps because you're not interpreting what's being said the right way? I think the question is how agressive China is willing to get in terms of saber-rattling.
-
an0n has it, I think. There's no way the Chinese don't already know the secrets of UAVs and they could probably build their own in the short-term if they wanted to. The US Government will be observing China's reaction to what is essentially a minor inconvenience.
But this sort of thing is regressive - the US won't be the strongest power forever, and in a few decades when they're playing 'catch-up' to China, they'll probably be on less than good terms, to say the least.

Well, Israel understandably has "security and defence > international affairs". I mean look at their history. They are good realpoliticians.
-
I don't understand why the US would really have any right to tell us not to... these particular UAVs dont even have any American technology or components in them...
At least thats what I heard, so dont jump down my throat if it turns out not to be true.
but we make and mod enough UAVs that I would belive it. http://israeli-weapons.com/israeli_weapons_aircraft_uavs.htm :doubt:

Worse.

America wants Israel to hand over the UAVs
-what right does America have to meddle in foreign affairs?
America and Israel want to open a can of whoop-ass on Iran and Syria because of their weapons.
-hell yeah, bring it on!
interesting.
