I know this is a little out of place since this ENTIRE FORUM is about models, but...
Anyone want a mod where shivans have no shields, all terrans have 100 m/s, can hold every weapon in the GTVA, and, well, souped up ships?
Yes or no. Then i will make one.
-
:sigh:
Maybe I should save time and just close this thread right now.
-
aw, come on. at least i can contribute to HLP, and show off my MODing prowess at the same time.
-
so you're gonna hack some table files and give everything weird stats? am i missing the point of this? what task would be accomplished by making all of those random modifications?
-
It would probably be more useful (and educational) to go through and document the different values in ships.tbl and what they do.
-
... I am going to qoute Carl .........

what will you learn that the rest of the community dosn't already know. The SCP looks at the code and most likely knows what all the values in the game are and do anyway.
Where are you taking this.

The SCP is not God. Just because a coder can go and look up what a variable does doesn't mean that it's not going to cause them some trouble, take up time, or that they even want to do it.
Since Cobra seems interested in modding, I figure, why shouldn't he write up a document on ships.tbl? A list of flags, new SCP variables, or even what retail variables do could be useful to new or old modders. Plus it would give him experience and make him more capable at editing ships.tbl, since if his document is accurate, then he should have an idea of what he wrote and/or be able to refer back to the document if he forgets something.

So, you´ve given up modelling so soon? :wtf:
I think i have your number figured out. You´re one of those guys who starts a million diferent things, and never gets to finish even one, and then jumps ship to other "cool" projects just to have the same thing happen all over again...
Try to stick to one project at a time, and give it your best effort before moving on to other "ideas".
:doubt:
::doubts he will ever finish this one, even if he does start it::
:sigh:
-
I agree with WMC.
For example, I honestly don't have any idea about what many strings effectively do, but I may need in future to deal with them and rather spending hours in forum searches a document could be useful.

*looks at the half dozen or so WIPs in my Max/Scenes folder*

Cobra: we had such high hopes for you recently...

nonsense.
You just need to keep on working and experimenting. These things take time to get right.
-
i know. just did some editing on it.
-
IMHO I think the whole ships.tbl needs to be redone. Looks like a mess.........
-
It doesn't have to look good, it just has to be useable.
-
It looks good to the game, and that's all that matters.:D
-
yep. only i want to make it better. after i finish my x-wing, i will work on that. want to know the reason why i'm going to make a .tbl mod? so you guys don't have to. ;)
-
Why would we want something like that in the first place?
-
to make the game better...

uhhhh.... no?.... why on earth would you want to do that?...
you'd make FS2 into a turkey shoot. and duller than a month of election days.
:blah: :ick:
-
OK... Then just make all bombers and fighters faster?
-
Isn't there a speed mod somewhere? It was pretty well balanced if memory serves. Though without VW I don't know where you'd find it these days.
-
I thought there was one on the HLP MOD database.
-
no, i didn't see one there, although i've looked... okay, forget the MOD then.
there's a mod database here?! WHERE?!
-
On the bottom of the screen, click the link to "Hard Light Productions", and it will be on the left under the header "Mods". Easy to find.
EDIT: The mod you're looking for is the Velocity mod. It is indeed in the mod database, you just have to go to the second page of the package mods.
-
Cobra, here's a hint about pretty much everyone at HLP: We don't want FS2 to be pointless to play. A mod that gives the player an uber advantage would be REALLY dull, hence, pointless to play.
-
*thinks about lowering the speed on all fighters and bombers* :drevil:
*imagines a Myrmadon being chased by a deployed Helios* ;)
-
unless you modify he helios, it wouldn't do much. I once nailed a Nahema dead on with a helios. hardly scratched it; hull went down 2%.
Aww, man, the velocity's link is removed from FilePlanet. :(

it was a fluke, but, a cool one..
-
yeah, right. NO ONE can hit a DRAGON with a HELIOS. No friggin way. not unless you fired point-blank... can someone email me the velocity mod?
-
Of course...Turnsky just made it up to get attention...:blah:
-
you people disgust me :D
-
sarcasm...come on now.....
for the most part we try to make the game more challenging, not a turkey shoot
-
here is a quote for you to live by:
"winnable on easy but not easily winnable"
-
say that five times fast!
-
winnable on easy but not easily winnable
winnable on easy but not easily winnable
winnable on easy but not easily winnable
winnable on easy but not easily winnable
winnable on easy but not easily winnable

Can I say it?
Cobra is a neeeewb.

-
anything to get this thread locked and this GodForsaken idea out of his head
-
bah. go ahead and spam. everyone spams all my other threads anyways...
-
wonder why...
-
ok guys, yeah this is a bad idea. but we don't have to beat it into the dirt do we? let it die.
