What is your favourite TBP ship and why?
-
Sharlin. Beauty and Pure Firepower.
-
The omegha X it just rocks the house
-
Aurora or Thunderbolt Starfury, and I say this because of two reasons.
1) They just sound good. It's a _hell_ of a fun ride to hear those 40/45mm pulse cannons going off. Even better when you and a wingman are going close-quarters with some bad guys near a capital ship blasting away.
2) Thunderbolt. Duh! ;)
-
Omega class Destroyer, baby!
-
What can be better than an Omega X destroyer ? Watch out Sharlin !
-
All of them :D
But if I'd have to choose one... The Omega :)
-
The omega Class destroyer because its justs one of the best ships i have ever seen  , and the thunderbolt, its a classy fighter.
-
Sharlin pure power!!!!!
-
There is only one choice.
-No words-
(http://img26.exs.cx/img26/6140/screen062oz.jpg)
Why? Because it's the most beautiful ship in B5.
And it is powerful. ;7
-
(Grumbles) I always thought that the Nail was the easiest ship to fly.
-
1. Shadow battlecrab
2. Thirdspace fighter:D
3. Hyperion
-
TBP wise, Id say my favourite is the Centari fighter. Its fast, manouverable and has rapid fire cannons. Its not as clumsy as that Starfurry.
-
is it just me, or is that g'quan missing it's guns?
-
Make it hostile, fly near it and you'll see :p
-
I thought G'Quan would walk this, but Omega and... surprisingly... Omega-X seem to be very popular. Omega-X is just bonkers.
-
Those screenies posted by DaBrain makes me wish I had a GeForce so that I could enjoy shinemaps in D3D.. :(
-
I'd say my favorite looking TBP model is the Raider Battlewagon. The ship just has a nice, simple, clean, human design.
Mostly it reminds me of a a book called Allies and Aliens where the carriers were designed in cylinders so fighters could be launched simply by spinning the ship.
-
Almost the Nial. So much easier to fly, and to hit stuff with, then a Starfury.
But I'm a bomber pilot at heart, and so I have to go with the Badger Starfury.
-
Omega for big ships (Whoo Janus :D), Starfury for fighters, I like challenges ;)
-

Well it just survived a quite intense battle. Maybe it lost it's guns.
I do not remember this exactly.
-
For caps the Omega.
For fighter the Black Omega Thunderbolt - as good to fly and looks really cool
-

Yes...this one seems to have lost its 2 big honking beam cannons on the front.
-
Omega class destroyer - nothing beats such a design :D
-
Thunderbolt fighter...always loved those guys :D
-
Thunderbolt!!!! Yeah, my dear thunderbolt, the thing just flies awesome, looks awesome and I like the gun (not to mention those long range missiles). I am just obsessed with the thunderbolt... :D
-
I just downloaded and played R3. Excellent job everyone!
My favorite ship in the game is the Primus-class Battle Cruiser. This ship brings heavy firepower to almost all arcs, while the Omega and G'Quan are heavy hitters forward, the Omega is a little light in the flanks.
The Minbari Sharlin is damn near invincible, so I left it out of my favorite ship options.
Thanks again for all the hard work and effort!
-
I always loved the Nova design. If it were beffed up Omega grade power, weapons and armor I think it would give most things a good run for their money.
-
I agree. The Omega tends to want to broadside opponents and attack with its turreted pulse cannons. The only problem is that the destroyer's guns are out of range. At this point, the Omega becomes quite useless. Whereas the Nova has substantially more firepower in a broadside situation.
Is there any way to extend the range of the Omega's turreted pulse cannons in the FRED2 editor?
-
EA heavy crusier for some reason.

Omega-X because it looks so cool.
The Psi Aurora is my favorite fighter that is currently available. But I still want to fly a Rutarian!

Narn ships are as ugly as sin.
-
In TBP or Babylon 5 in general?
In TBP, has to be the Aurora Star Fury - It just looks gorgeous, and so similar to the TV versions.
The updates to the pulse cannons just make it even cooler!
Nail gets a second place - It's a nice ship, also looks like it's TV-counterpart. The best thing about it is the fighter beams - They look and sound freakin' awesome, even the barrel flash is a neat touch!
I wanted to say the Thunderbolt, but to me it looks kinda ugly and not that much like the TV version for some reason...
In terms of flying, the Badger. I can't have an Ares so the Badger is the next best thing, and OHK'ing fighters with a spread of 60mm pulse cannon fire is always very satisfying ;)
In the TV series... mmm... either Babylon 5 itself, or the EA Omega destroyers. The whole looks just screams "I'm Really F'ing hard, don't mess with me or I ram this particle beam up your exhaust port!"
My only regret is no one thought to mount heavy beams on the rotating section... would have been funny watching it cut big holes in other ships :D

Hey, I love Nova too, with so many guns it's looks freaking awensome.
-
Beams on the hab section would be funny. You could carve a perfectly circular chunk out of the enemy ship.

... that's not true...
I like the painting (reminds me somehow of the Kilrathi) and the design.
But I'll admit the Frazi is ugly. Ok, for my taste, but not really good either.
-
I would say:
Thunderbolt
Vree saucers close second (that mental "rain o' death" gun kicks ass)
Brakiri Cruiser third.
Most of the big capital ships rock though. I tend to change my mind from day to day. :doubt:
-
How about Babylon 5? Oh wait.
-
Shadow battlecrab. Deadly beauty. :)
-
Its all about style.
I was going to go with the Shadow Battlecrab or Sharlin, cos of there beauty and awesome power....
But the best is definetly the Hyperion / Midwinter. There just groovy. Modular and fairl srteamlined, with a brilliant arc of fire.... its probably one of the more realistic ships also.
To fly, its gotta be the omega starfury. Like the original, but better :D
Oh, and release 3's beam weapons on nial look like devine retribution. Hmm. *thinks* Good name for a mission, that.
Yosh!!!!
Oh and btw, "My only regret is no one thought to mount heavy beams on the rotating section... would have been funny watching it cut big holes in other ships" In The third series, when B5 declared independance I'm fairly certain the one of the independant omega's destroyed a pursuing omega with a beam fired from the rotating section backwards.
-
Sharlin is power, but like someone said it is too powerfull.
Omega looks cool. That rotation section looks mighty and all that armonance. It is one of best ships.
Surachai: you are wrong. In that serie an independant omega was attacked by x-ray beam which hit rotation section. And attacker was destroyed by backward x-ray beam from Omega (in TBP Omega has such too). I think the attacker was Midwinter.
-

No it didn't shoot from the rotation section. It got hit there.
The Omega was the Alexander, under command of Gerneral Hague (who died in exactly that battle, maybe even from that shot) and was hit by the Yorktown, a Midwinter cruiser.
And after that hit, you hear them speaking on the bride "another hit like that and we lose gravity".
-
Hyperion/Midwinter.
A feast for the eyes.
-
Hmm My first choice is Whitestar, second choice Thunderbolt.
-
I like the primus, the centari have always been one of my favorite races, second would be the thunderbolt it has a cool name and looks pretty good.:thepimp:
-
My favourite ship is the Drakh Raider by the way. I just dig the design. Although it didn't have as much work put into it as the gorgeous G'Quan and Omega.
-
My choice is the Warlock. Only ever seen once in the Crusade ship and its so ugly its beautiful and you know it can kick butt bigtime. Second is defo the whitestar. Hearin 1 of them scream past your ear and you know youve got some serious firepower beside you.

Hmm for Babylon 5 Series i must say Vorlon Star Dreadnought or Vorlon Planetkiller. But for the game, like i said before, Sharlin (number one) -> Whitestar -> G'quan -> Omega -> OmegaX -> Vorchan.

The First Ones suck.

To that I can only say one thing:
Zog
-
The Shadow Battlecrab is easily the coolest ship ever made in a scifi show. Closely followed by the whitestar and the Vorlon ships.
-
Think I go for Hyperion, it is just soooo realistic and it weapons are in right places. This beauty has no dead-angles,at least I have not found them yet.
-
The Hyperion i certainyl like alot. Very classi and with good firepower and angles.
But the Omega beign big and dark and sharp angles is very intimidating. Wehn you see that thing commign at you with its main guns shooting it looks realy nasty. I especialy like the launch bay speuing out fighters.
-
My all-time favorite ship has been G'Quan since I first saw it on Babylon 5. The model is beautiful and the red paint job says "I'm dangerous!" all over it.
-
Strangely,I've seen few B5 ships, yet the most attractive (to me) so far has been the Hyperion...
-
Its got be the Shadow battle crab for Cool ooohhhh ahhh value but the Hyperion for shear im going to get the job done good looks.
The real question is hoe does B5 compare to other Sci-Fi i think it kicks the others but would like to see what people think.
Personal fan off Star Wars ships after B5.
-
The aurora starfury, followed closely by the Omega.
-
Firepower, grace and deadliness- Sharlin class warcruiser
Hit & run tactics/ speed - Whitestar
EA warship - Omega destroyer; it has interesting design using a rotating habitat/command module to create artificial grawity
and my beloved x-ray beams...
EA fighters are all cool - good for different tasks
A true challenge - try out the Zephyr :)
It's hard to tell which starfighter is 100% the best
they all have "+" & "-" . MAYBE EXCEPT THE NIAL... only "+" ;)
-
The Nial has very important disadventage for multiplayer gaming - the game not count kills made by it's beam weaponary. After few weeks of online playing, my favourite ship is PSI Thunderbolt, for good parameters and powerful gun. Sentri fighter is on the second place because of its wide gun placement and very fragile weapons and sensors subsystems. Although, it's small profile and rapid-fire guns makes it quite good for dogfighting.
-
Beam weapon kills not counting is fs2_open bug.
-
My favorite heavy ship is the EAS Hyperion class cruiser. i like her lines, some nautic but seems strangely realistick , cooler specialy after severed dreams when it looks like Hyperions mounts beam weapons... If they upgraded it with gravitic field..
And for fighter i go with the EA Thunderbolt.
Every time i see a Nial i cant helo but thing on the StarWars TIE Defender
-
Absolutely Nial! I Just love those beams and it's agile too. Mimbari are the coolest race on B5. White Star is also cool, "We live for The One, we die for The One "
-
:welcome: Tervetuloa JBlade :D
Whitestar is cool, but I don't like the Nial. The Nial is... Well, I just don't like it..
-
I don't liek the way the Nial looks. To me it looks lieka flying vegetable, kind a liek a cucomber. lol.
I would say in B% the most beatiful ships are.
Sharlin Cruiser
Hyperion Cruiser
G'quan Cruser
Vorchan Cruiser
The nastiest lookign one that would intimadate soemoen the most to me would be. (this is solly bas eon looks of the ship.)
Nova (look at how many guns you can see on it)
Omega
Shaling
Primus
Sun Hawk (this thing looks mean for its size)
-
I can't believe people actually chose the 'Plucked Chicken' and the 'Blue Fish of Doom' as their favs. :ick:
Omega destroyer and the G'Quan heavy cruiser all the way!
-
Wich ship is the plucked shicken. I know the sharling is the blue fish of doom but what is the plucked chicken?
-
I think that White Star was referred as plucked chicken, but im not totaly sure...
-
Yep. The white star is the plucked chicken cause it was refered to as one in A View From The Gallery.
-

Yes, in the episode 'A view from the gallery', one of the maintainance guys called it a plucked chicken. And it even looks like it too ;ick: (a pretty damn good episode though)
:ick::ick::ick:
-
A poorly drawn plucked chicken, perhaps...
-
In any case, it's ugly but it kicks ass. And i guess when it comes down to it, that's all that really matters :D
-
The Warlock is my favourite battleship in B5 :D
-
The warlock was butt ugly ;p the only good thing on that ship were the G.O.D cannons fitted onto the front of that thing :p
-
the Warlock is a very cool ship.. it looks like it can handle any situation and any ship, at least it can go to a Sharlin without be wiped out in sight..
Im wondering in Hyperions got artificial gravity in Crusade era... many websites tell that they not and only newer desingns like Warlocks, Victorys and some others got it. But it appears that for example Narns got all their brand new G´Quans after joining the ISA with artifical gravity without modifyng the basic design.. so why not fit a Hyperion with a gravimetyc system. to create gravity for example in the main habytation area of the ship (the "tower" from up to bottom and that windowed section after he tower) It would be a damn great medium war ship and not all must be gigant enourmous overkill destroyers ;7
I would love to be able to fly a Thunderbolt or a Nial in the game.. how i can chose them? In some missions the game allows to do a ship sellection but i allways end up with the Aurora..
-
For me, it would be the Vorchan. I oh-so love the Centauri.
-
the EA Badger, its beauty matches its power , put level 4 cannons on .and the massive 12 venom missiles loadout. and dont try to fly it at night with the pc speakers on, coz your mum will surly kick you out of the house. ok by the way were can get posters of the shpis for my pc desktop backraound i looked for ships moddels but i didnt find any??
-
Hyperion no doubt ... i just love the classic "oh thats definately human" design :)
-
I would love to be able to fly a Thunderbolt or a Nial in the game.. how i can chose them? In some missions the game allows to do a ship sellection but i allways end up with the Aurora...
Help:
Using the editor you can make missions where you can have all flyable spacecraft available...
-
go Asimov frieghter!! its large and it can kamikaze any cap ship. lol jk. Thunderbolt fighter.. its fast and maneuverable. Not as maneuverable as the interceptors in fs2 but eh close enough.
-
Now that you mention the Asimov.
It's definately the nicest civil ship currently in TBP.
-

If you downloaded the single mission pack, go to the mission simulator and choose single mission. IIRC there are some missions which let you fly Thunderbolts and Narn Frazis.
-
I didn't know what missions were in that mission pack until I downloaded it today. Had I known I would've tried to upgrade those to be more compatible with Base 3.1. Oops.
-
My favs r Shadow battlecrab & Vorlons cruiser. First thing is the shadows seem to come from nowhere when they leave you hear a mental scream, now for the vorlons they have a certain look to them that states hey you **** with me and your a deadman.
Why dont you get off your encounter suited butt and do something.........Sheridan to Kosh
-
I've always had a soft spot for Vorlon and Narn built things...... (xcept the T'loth, now that was a f***k'ed up design, IMHO)
-
T´loths are cool, almost not seen in the show and even some starbases seems to be constructed with parts of them..
even there was a narn ship of 900 meters wich was basicaly one wing of the t´loth.
But sinze early Hyperions were in match with T´Lotchs , modern Hyperions are at pair with G`Quans.. i wonder who pointed the diference between Hyperion-Midwinter classes
-
Speak for yourself. The Narn (or more likely the lazy CGI people) building everything out of Th'nors is a personal pet peeve of mine.
-
Heh.. I think you got off light considering Star Treks ship design policy ;)
As for me... I think the White Star is actually pretty darn neat. Those and Starfuries...
-
Well the thing with reusing parts of decomisioned ships seems to fit the Narn perfelctly.
First they designed and build the T'Loth as fast as possible to have at least some form of military presence in space, which led to a .... not so good ship.
But even when they had better ships, they where still low on material, so why not use the bad ships' hulls to build something more useful out of it?
-
So they can build a heavy super mega destroyer simply gluing eleven smaller T´Loth modules long hehehe ;7
-
Moderator reaches into deck. Plays thread necro card. Don't try this at home kids.
Now what's your favourite TBP ship and why?
-
I thought G'Quan would walk this, but Omega and... surprisingly... Omega-X seem to be very popular. Omega-X is just bonkers.
The Omega-X is just so loony and mad in its concept that it rules. I love it.
As for fighters, I'd pick either the Sentri or the PSI Thunderbolt. All those weirdly shaped Middle Children/First One ships don't do it for me, and the Aurora, Frazi, and Sky Serpent aren't agile enough.
Heh.. I think you got off light considering Star Treks ship design policy ;)
To boldly go where no kitbash has gone before...
-
Well, this is a tough one. Even though they are over-powered SOBs, I have to say that the Minbari Nial-fighter is my favorite simply because I LOVE beam weapons, and this ship has rapid-fire beam weaponry. Second is the Aurora as it's a decent fighter and I generally have an easier time hitting the enemy when piloting one of these then say a Thunderbolt (though the 'bolts look cooler).
