Title: i think [V]'s marketing troubles are over
Post by: Nuke on January 16, 2005, 11:17:48 pm
i just saw an ad on tv for the punisher video game. it occured to me that volition (assuming the game doesnt blow) has a chance to etch their logo on the braincase of many a gamer. not to get overoptimistic or anything, it wouldnt fit my nature, but this is kinda cool.

Yeah, they do advertise on obscure channels at random times, I have seen Summoner and Red Faction pimped on UK television in the past....

About the only game I've ever seen on TV was Halo 2. And the Australian campaign for that covered virtually the entire city...

GTA? ;)

And isn't the Punisher game meant to be a steaming heap of dung?

I heard an ad for MechAssault 2 on the radio this morning.

Yeah, it's not [V], and the idea of Mechassault is a bastardization of everything that I as a Battletech fan believe in, but at least video games are starting to get advertised.

Now if only FS2 had been advertised... :(

I've heard some good things about the Punisher.  A friend and I were at the local Gamestop outlet the other day, just browsing around.  We spoke to the clerk about release dates for upcoming games, and he said he'd been able to play a copy of the Punisher.  He claimed that he stuffed a live grenade in a bad guy's mouth, and that the mook turned and ran away from him... only to have his entire torso explode.  In another instance, he said he threw a guy out a window and into a pool of pirahna.

Sounds like fun to me.

I see loads of games advertised on the telly.  Often by wee companies like Digital Jester (who sponsor Battlestar Galactica on sky one IIRC)

Yeah, saw that ad a few days ago here in TO.  I hope the game does well.  Also once saw one on Red Faction.

Advertising FS2 would've been awesome...

The first game I saw advertised on TV was Mechwarrior 3. I'll never forget the image of that Thor stepping on that poor, helpless soldier.

I don't think I've ever actually seen a PC game advertised on TV, just console games (the exception being Everquest in theatres)..

Most of the games I see advertised are either on Sci-fi or G4TechTV.

If Freespace 2 were advertised a long time ago we would be playing Freespace 4 by now. :p

I saw the Punisher comercial, but it never mentioned Volition... only THQ in conjunction with Marvell Comics.

If Volition is a THQ subsidiary now, then they probably don't get their own studio billing.

"starting to"?? :wtf:   Video games have been advertised on TV since the Atari era.

Don't make me send Zombie Bill Plympton to your house.
