Can't see anything, but mebbe it's because the folder view option's set to thumbnails or something?

Details view might do it too if its set to display a lot of information on the files. My music folder can grind my machine to a halt if I tell it to display info about the song, because it has to parse the header and ID3 tag of EVERY file in the folder.

Wow. I get the same thing - I just assumed it was the fault of my badly-in-need-of-a-reformat PC. Apparently not. Weird bug though.

KT: it might belong there but i couldn't work out what fourm to put in in

Thorn: nope not that it isn't halthing the comp it just consumes all avaliable memory and then uses a crap load of my HD as virtual ram

my current theory is that it's somthing todo with the fact that windos thinks .ani files are animated cursors

Yeah I've got the same issue. I opened the effects folder up and it nearly freezes up at times... :S

My computer is in need of a defrag and or format anyway but this still irritates me especially considering that's the place I spend most of my time...

This happens if you have an image viewer associated to view the .ani files. Only associate Descent Manager's aniview tool to view .ani files.
Happens with Irfanview at least.

Windows 2000 does not have the problem either. Just make sure you don't have ANY software associated to view .ani files, except aniview.
