Hello. This is my first post , so sorry if this isn't the right forum..
So i need help. I downloaded a lot of new ships for Fs2 , but i don't know how to use them in Fred. ( i've fred2 open 3.6.5 )
Can someone tell me how can i use them? Thanks in advance.

Usually the readme's included will help, but if there isn't one then put everything apart from text files and Pofs into your main FreeSpace 2 folder. Then copy and paste Ships' Table entries (from the text file) into your Ships.tbl.
Place all .pof files in FReespace2\data\models

Thanks the help and the welcome guys:)

Well did it work?

To be honest I don't think sticking everything in the main freespace2 folder is the best idea. It may work now but the betting is that a month or two later we'll be seeing BlueLotus back posting about how he's installed another mod but none of the ships work/he keeps getting crashes.
Mods should always go in a data folder. There are only a select few exceptions to this.
1. The media vps
2. Mod .vp files if you're running FS2 Retail.
Apart from those times all mods and vp files should always go in a subfolder.
What you should do is make a new folder. Call it whatever you like (no spaces or hyphens though) I'm going to call it for the rest of this example.
In you make a new folder called data. In the data folder you then create several new folders. You place the individual parts of the mod in those subfolders.
Vp files go in itself not in \Data.
Anything ending in .pof goes in \Data\models. If you have a readme you should read it for more advise. If you have a table entry you should add this to your table entry. (check my FAQ below for more help with this)
The rest are a little more complicated but putting them in \Data\Models will probably be good enough for now. When you get a little more proficient in recognising interface files you can move them to the correct folder.
Once you've done that make a new shortcut for FRED. Right click on it and choose properties. In the target bar add -mod and you're done.
I know that sounded a lot more complicated than kietotheworld's advice but it should save you hassle in the long run. In addition organising your mods this way allows you to install multiple mods at once without them ever interfering with each other.

Listen to Karajorma. He's been here a lot longer than me.
(See post count and date joined)

 yeah, kara outranks you by 6000 posts! and i outrank you by 400!

Postcount != Rank.
-
:wtf:

Now where's Kazan when you need him?
*cough cough*
Seriously, post count is absolutely no indication of anything. Just like the silly points in-game.

The more you brag about your post counts, the higher the possibility that an admin resets them to 0.
-
Very true. And in Cobra's case, it's an indication of high spam content.
-
dude, now my post count is 6000. what the hell?
-
The admins are messing with your post count. They reset Kie's to 1.
-
i still don't know why they messed with it... but i like it :D
-
You aren't getting the insult there, I see...
In any case, back on topic. Bluelotus, any other programs?
-
If I were an admin I'd change Cobra's title to "post count weenie" ....but I can't have everything
-
oh, shut up.
-
Why....do you deny that you treat your post count as a digital penis prosthesis ?
-
:wtf: whatever.
-
I wonder...could they change my post count to "Expired"?
-
