Blender Shot (http://www.geocities.com/avalon7us/carrier2a.png)
This is my first attempt at a large model. I'm trying to make a Terran light carrier. This is also a *very* early shot. I'm really just looking for some feedback on the general hull shape.
-
I like the shape so far, looks good.
Awaiting more detail :p
-
yeah, looks good, just needs more detail
-
Hm, don't know. Somehow it doesn't give the imagination of a big ship to me. I get more the feeling of a condor-class MK2 (guess that's because of the side-pylons) ;)
-
Those are engine pods, actually, Starman. And I'm working on detail, as soon as I get Blender to cooperate again. It doesn't want to delete certain faces for some reason or another...
-
Looks like one of those ships from battlestar galactica.
Needs lots more detail before I can really comment.
-
*sighs* I'm working on that right now. I just can't convince Blender to delete faces so I can rebuild certain parts.
-
Like I said on IM, it's Pelican-esque. But that's not a bad thing.
If I were you, I'd try to give the out-sticking parts a bit less geometric shape. Perhaps sweep the hull, too.
-
This work? Poly count is up to 690 something when triangulated.

I had somehow gotten 40+ doubled verticies in the model. One 'remove doubles' on the model and everything started working. Funny, that...
-
Better. :)
-
Much better now
-
When i saw first picture i was thinking that this model coud be nice troop transport:D . Now with more details and witthout engiens pods on sides looks more like carrier:nod:
Still need lots of work but it's good start.
-
Finally, another Blender user! nice, btw.
[EDIT] to delete faces, simply select the circle with a face on it, press x or delete, and click on faces.
-
Cobra, I'm going to say this bluntly: I've been using Blender longer than you have. I'm well aware of how that's supposed to work. It wasn't working. Not I didn't know how. There was a problem with it not doing that when told to.
That error has been resolved.
-
well, how was I supposed to know that?

This time... p

Stand Down! We're on your side!

Since I haven't released any shots lately, here are some new ones, showing detail work and some restructuring of the hull:

Impressive! :eek2:
Now if you could just do something with that front-side area, it'd be perfect!
-
*chuckles* I'm working on that... slowly. Most of what's been done has been a few additional polys. That changes the shape of the hull somewhat, but not much more than that.
I'm probably going to have to partially rebuild the nose again, though, to fix the... angularity, I guess.
If anyone's itnterested, the model is up to a little over 1300 polies at this point.
-
teach me how to use blender, O Great Master of Blender! :D
-
Go talk to VA.
EDIT: I just made a few changes. Anyone see them?
