Title: "Best Entrance Ever" Thread
Post by: an0n on January 23, 2005, 12:38:32 pm
I'm bored.

I'd say Kathryn [Mia Kirshner] in Not Another Teen Movie. Strolling on in wearing a catholic schoolgirl uniform and looking evil while Manson's Tainted Love kicks in.

And on a related note: No porn jokes.

insert porn joke here

I kinda like Alien's entrance. In movie "Alien", which is about "aliens", if you know what I mean.

Obvious enough but I think the Sathanas's entrance was pretty good, jump in, have a look around. BFRed everything in sight jump out.

Oooh!

Although it's not shown: The Enterprise arriving in Sol during First Contact:

Ensign: "Sir, we've lost shields. Weapons are gone."
Worf says: "Perhaps today is a good day to die......... Prepare for ramming speed!"
Ensign: "Sir, there's another starship coming in.........It's the Enterprise!"

Undertaker. The lights go out, you hear the GONG, UV lights the arena and then he appears in his badass outfit. Strides towards the ring, climbs the steps, and does the eyes-rolled-back-in-the-head thing before laying the smack down with authoritah...

Kane also has a good entrance, as his music rocks and there's lot's of pyro...

Halo 2: When the MC is on the streets of New Mambassa, and they need to break through the gate to get to the crashed pelican, and the two Hunters bust down the gate before you, walk in all cocky-like with their necks exposed, and you cap the first one in the threoat with the pistol... Yeah. That was fun.

In the X-wing novels: Corran Horn walking into his own murder trial, which (as you could imagine) complicated things a great deal.
And of course Alpha 1's entrance in Into the Lion's Den has to be mentioned. :D

Halo 2 is full of badass coolness
"returning the bomb"
"for a brick, he flew pretty good!"
"I know what the ladies like"
"Its the Demon.. Run!!!!!"
"Hey, Watch This!"

Elite Flood: jumps menacingly
Me+sword: Slice!

"chief magically teleported: boo" *grunt runs away
"basically anything involving an energy sword"
"     "                "           "        a tank"

Hehe, yeah.  The camera angle shows him standing atop a tall mast, then you see he's about three feet above the water. :p

About the earlier Return of the King reference:  technically, while the whole "Army of the Dead at Pelennor" was grossly inaccurate, Aragorn jumping off the ship was straight out of the book. :)

It's not exactly an 'entrance" in the original sense, but the very beginning of "Tie Fighter", when the Star Wars music starts and changes into the imperial march out of a sudden.

This one is easy...

The man: Worf
The place: The bridge of the Defiant
The line: Perhaps today is a good day to die.
The result: Mountains of geeky fan service that anyone who knows anything about Worf will get a laugh out of.

The alien in Alien.  Not telling the actors what exactly it was gonna do really did result in some excellent facial expressions.

Baal in D2: LoD's opening cinematic.  I'm not a big blizzard fan, but it's hard to deny that the guys can do cinematics.

I'm amazed noone has said it yet...

Star Wars IV: A New Hope

Rebel corvette flies overhead lasers blasting at another ship, then the stardestroyer appears overheard, and just keeps going, and going, and going, and going and going.

First time I saw it. I was floored...it was awesome...

Well, if we're going to bring Anime into this, Akira as its share of entrance : Tetsuo going down on the JSDF tanks, or, better in my opinion, Kaneda shooting his huge laser while riding his motorcycle.
