Title: GTF Kelpie Completed - Download here
Post by: Taristin on January 23, 2005, 09:42:27 pm
Yes yes... I said I wouldn't make another thread... *hides from Kalifireth*

And I said I'd probably not finish this mesh, but I lied, twice.

GTF Kelpie

LOD0 - 974 Polies
LOD1 - 508 Polies
Debris - 956 Polies

LOD0 uses a 1024^ map
LOD1 and Debris use a 512^ map

It is fully POFfed, meaning it has everything from the gun points to the subsystems to the paths and the dockpoint, to the moment of Inertia. It should work completely perfectly... barring I didn't make any typos in the tbm file. :)

Included are the tbm, pof, Targa base maps, PCX base maps and glow maps, ship select icon, and Hud shield guage Icon.

Enjoy. Discuss. And list any errors here. (Although I hope there aren't any)

Cool fighter. A bit monchromatic but then colorful fighters are, well, it's just a matter of style - it's militaristic. Makes me think of an Apollo Mk.II.

Thoughts on little things that would make the fighter even cooler. The number of engines is cool, but I'm not sure how pratical they'd be on a real fighter. The round cockpit is hard to do perfectly, but look at WC Saga - their Thunderbolt has a really cool recessed cockpit and shading that I think would work well for this fighter too, although true your future fighters are HTL with cockpit anyways.  The mesh is highly interesting, but you could shade in the "intake" above the cockpit .

And of course, a shinemap would make it something really interesting. Of course, this one's done, so we wanna see more you, Raa ! ;7

Looks fantastic. The outer gunpods remind me of the Myrmidon :)

I modelled them to be similar, and I tried to map them to look similar, too. :)

Uhm... just tried this in-game, FS Open CTDs when its hull gets shot. Why does it do this? :(

Hmm, I seem to be able to collide with it, but as soon as it gets shot once or twice it crashes.

The Losna crashes in the same way...

...why?  I wonder...

Man I hope Styxx fixes his pof converter... :sigh:
I can't think of any reason it would do that. I'll have to have Shadow test the ships I sent him for Origins, too, and see if he's having this same problem.

Ransom: Check the mesh's mass chunk. I could have sworn that I set a mass, but if for some odd reason, it didn't save, that'll be the problem...

That version isn't finished; I'm guessing Raa has gone and done LODs and other assorted POF data for it.

Timewarp attack!

Yep. LODs, Debris, and full pof data are on the final version that I gave to another user.

I dunno if I should say who, though.

There was no time warp this time.

Frak. I post that, and it ends up above Cobe's post... bugger.

You'd be a fool to sue them. They're providing us with free use of their servers.

Jeez, so many of you people think the world owes you everything... :doubt:

Can a mod just delete the irrelevant posts?

Cobra: shut up.  The stupid is leaking out into perfectly respectable threads.

Post by: InfernoGod on February 24, 2005, 11:06:09 pm
Cobra, I'm not a mediator. I'm attempting to stop something that is ABSOLUTELY stupid, something that nobody cares about (or cares to see, even), and something that will potentially end this thread.
I'm not taking sides with anyone here either, so don't kill me if you're mad. I'm speaking on behalf of the people who are tired of arguments that get threads locked.
So let's get back on topic, please.

I get the same crash as Ransom. Anyone else?

Post by: Taristin on April 02, 2005, 10:07:33 pm
Well, perhaps it need Strattcom to recompile it, since when I make new builds of it, I get the same deal (supposedly)

It seems to be trouble with the pof exporter plugin. Either that, or FSO doesn't like something about it.
