I've finally decided to make use of my dvd-player that I've had for long time now. Currently I have all Babylon 5 seasons, The Gathering and In the Beginning B5 movies, The Lord of the Rings Extended Trilogy and Chronicles of Riddick (ordered Pitch Black already).
That covers my collection, what gems you know that are worth buying? :)
-
The Triplets of Bellville.
don't even bother renting it, just buy it. Its awesome.
-
Star Wars Trilogy (of course)
Battlestar Galactica 2003 4hr Miniseries
The Matrix (not the sequels)
The Animatrix
Dark City
Batman/Batman Returns
Driving Miss Daisy
-
Jacob's Ladder
Cube
That's about all I can think of right now.
-
Blade Runner Directors Cut.
-
King Arthur Directors cut.
The DVD version of that is 100x better than the cinematic. There is heaps more fighting scenes etc. :D
-
Alien Quadrilogy.
City of God.
-
Dune.
The 1980's edition of course-
-
Hehhe.
The latest versions are kinda ok...
Then again, they arn't.
I try to think of one good thing about them, but fail to do so.
I'd say the small amount of nudity, but even that is cruddy.
-
X-Men2?
-
Band of Brothers > pretty much any set of DVDs you can name...
-
Spaceballs!
Sneakers
Indiana Jones Trilogy
Back to the Future Trilogy
Pirates of the Caribbean
Aliens Director's Cut
Blazing Saddles
Erm... those are all the ones I have :)
-
The Seven Samurai is quite good, but a bit expensive...

Well, for the first two, at least. :p
In any case, Titanic. Not because of special features (it's got none), but because you won't have to suffer through fastforwarding and rewinding for most of the day to get the part you want to watch. :D

I now somehow own a huge number of DVDs, and never bought one - I think it has something to do with mrs c discovering Amazon...
There's some extraordinary stuff on the rack that I had no idea about - Lady Chatterly for one...
-
Father Ted Complete Box Set
-

Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Pulp Fiction
And wow, Cyker; finally someone else who's seen Sneakers. That's a good film.
-
I've seen Sneakers! "Too many secrets" Excelent film. Too bad it was River Phoenix last movie. He was good in it.
-
Monkey Dust, Season 1.
British cult animation, very dark and disturbing, though very funny.

I so need to grab a hold of those. Pity they're so expensive here in Australia.
-
Pirates of the Caribbean
-
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
-
Gargoyles: The Complete First Season (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002W4SY0/thegargoylefa-20?creative=327641&camp=14573&link_code=as1) <- Buy it or DIE! ;)
Dragonheart
Stargate SG-1 (all seven seasons)
Farscape (all four seasons)
Office Space (another must own!)
Shrek
Shrek 2
-
Thanks for all the suggestions. :)
-
Judging by your current collection spectacular sci-fi fantasy is your bag. So I suggest buying the new Battlestar Galactica mini series and the first season when it's eventually released. Pick up a copy of Dark City cheap. I bought it without having seen it on the strength of internet opinion and I wasn't disappointed.
-
[color=66ff00]Hero (subtitled, dubs suck)
Cowboy Bebop movie
Ghost in the Shell
Equilibrium (much rockage)
Last Starfighter
Ummm, most of the rest have already been suggested.

-
Kummeli DVDt
-
Stargate. SG-1 too.

Is that you, Mistah Hoppy? *bounces away*
:shaking:
Buy it. Fantastic.
Also:
Once Upon A Time In the West - special edition (best western ever. Sergio Leone + Ennio Morricone + Charles Bronson + Peter Fonda = :jaw: )
the "Dollars" trilogy (Fistful of Dollars; A Few Dollars More; The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) - other best westerns ever
Finding Nemo
Belleville Rendezvous (Rictor mentioned it, but he used the crappy American title, so I'm putting in the proper name :p)
Spirited Away
The Big Lebowski
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Fargo
Bill Bailey: Part Troll (live comedy. Bill Bailey is brilliant - very clever, versatile musician, nice and subtle. Not for those who watch things like Letterman... A highlight is his rendition of the the "Hoki-Koki" nursery rhyme in the style of Kraftwerk. Brilliant!)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Hero
House of Flying Daggers
Steak: The extended LOTR dvds are expensive everywhere... ;)
-
K-Pax
I, Robot
The Time Machine (newest version, methinks...)
-
Dodgeball
