I think i´m going to give this one try with custom UV mapping it.
I´m thinking adding a WWII Tomahawk texture, with the shark jaws painted in the nose...
I think i´m gonna call it "Mirage", because that´s what a custom UV job done by me will be. A friggin mirage... :D

Now that is cool!
If you could make the really tiny bits either dissapear, or very dumbed down (so that they don't become a waste with mapping) I could see that being used in TVWP ;7
And you say I hate your models :p
-
She's a beauty. I really like that design.

Cheers!

Possum!
(Possum= pwesome= awesome with a "p", like pwned is owned with a "p")

That front view somewhat resembles an EA Lindos class destroyer from the Inferno mod. But a putting a mouth on it like the Loki has would be a nice addition.
-
I think it looks somewhat BSG-ish... especially the way the main guns are mounted. It could be passed off as a fighter from the same era as the Viper MK.II, but in the same role as the Raptor, or as a heavy fighter.
-
Hey Swamp Thing you like S.S.T.? That model sorta reminds me of the only fighter we have seen in that universe...
-
nice, BSGish, the vent things on the tops of the engines are a bit waistfull, even for an HTL model, while the wings could use a few of those pollies.
don't like the rudder thing on the top of it, it might be cooler if you had something that wraped around from top to bottom
-
Beautiful. 10/10.
-
Nice! Design reminds me of that old PSX game Colony Wars.
-
That's a big mofo :)

I love it.

See, now the first thing I was reminded of was the XG-1 "Starwing" Assault Gunboat. I guess the overall result is that it's not only awsome looking, but fairly original. But the best part? It looks very Freespace Terran. Four grasping appendages up!
So, are all 6 of what I think are gun hardpoints actually guns? What's a missile bay rather than just a vent?
-
Reminds me of "The Last Starfighter".
Which is a good thing (tm).
-
 GREAT WORK! That is one kick-ass looking fighter!
-
ooooooo.... preeeeetyyyyy.....
-
I´ve been playing with the mesh a bit, and did a few changes.
How´s this? Any better?

Added rocket mounts under the wings, took out the nose mounts (looked odd), changed the top fin, and changed the wing tip guns. They are closer to the cockpit now, to avoid the "Claymore Syndrome" where the shot would go wide and miss the target.
It is still not quite i would like, but i´m getting there...
-
whoa, that's super...
-
*spooge*
And I don't recall the Claymore having a wide gun mount spread. The field of fire was pretty narrow. "WhiteStar syndrome" or "Ulysses syndrome" would be more appropriate.
-
Whine whine whine.... You just got to learn HOW to fight in those craft. Kids today, they want it all generic like some sort of video game. Sheesh! (gets off his old man rant, then realises Swampy is as old as he is..OOPS!)
-
Wow, looks fantastic! The design is very Japanese sci fi, love all the cool details put into it.
-
Second one is much better :) Good job

The Claymore (and a couple others) had the gun normals pointing straight foward, as opposed of pointing inwards so that the shots converged on an invisible point 200 meters in front of the ship. Because of that, if you pull up close behind a fighter, you can only land either the left or the right shots. And the target reticule became useless. I remember i had to tilt the ship sideways, and aim only the left guns at the target, because if i used the reticule all the shots would pass around the ship.
Maybe for you that wasn´t an issue, but i´m a technicist. I don´t strafe my targets, i aim carefully and shoot only when i know i will hit it. Try taking down a Dragon using only your guns in a Clay, and you will see what i mean.
:ick:

Ohhhhhmagoodness. The first one was great, the 2nd one is even better. When do you plan on putting textures on it?

But gun normals don't mater, IIRC, since they all fire straight forward, or 0,0,1. But fire convergence was a request to the SCP team a while back.
-
Normals don´t matter?? You mean that if i set the normal of a gun pointing 45 degrees to the side, the gun will still fire straight forward??
-
Try it. :)
-
It'd be kinda funny if you could get your guns to fire at right angles to your course...
-
Which claymore?
(oh, and the one with the bad firepoints did have converging vectors, but they didn't work)
-
So, what use are "normals" then? I always thought the normals showed the computer the axis through and around wich the gun would fire. If it doesn´t do that, what´s the use of having it??
@Aldo
Can´t remember wich Claymore it was, i believe it was the one with 4 firing points, 2 on each wing. But the other Claymore had a similar problem, only a diferent conception. Basicly it was impossible to land all the shots fired during one round on target. At best you would land 2, while the other 2 would go wide. That´s because the wing span of the Clay was wider than any fighter on FS2. If you were really close behind and used the reticule to aim, all four shots would miss and go wide over the target...
-
At one point, they may have been intended to be used, but then the decision was made to hard code 001 instead. Honestly can't see why, unless it was a rush for time...?
