Nice detail, but ugly design.

Reminds me of the mech from Dawn of War. I think its the blue colour scheme that gives the impression..
I think the legs are the main problem, they look way to clunky and un-agile. Try doing the backwards bending legs like in Mechwarrior. Other than that, cool.

Maybe one of those godawful fugly modified AgroMechs from DA...but not a BattleMech, and definitely not an OmniMech. No knees.

ok carl, i am a huge Btech Guru. might i recommend looking at some of the classic Btech stuff, and not the M$ mechwarrior game?
now for the advice, if you give it knees make them bend backward, like a madcat. Widen the waist a bit, so that it doesn't look so top heavy. Also open the doors on the streak srm 4's on either side of the cockpit. Once that is done, i can see this mech weighing in at 45 or 50 tons as a successor to my beloved ShadowCat.
Oh, and stay away from dark Age crap as well as M$ designs, or the way that they redesigned alot of the mechs. The classic Btech versions look much better. They were the ones used in mech3. Also, to give it the appearance of size, lower the camera to a level about knee level, so that you are looking up at it.
I love the top half and the arms though, maybe just add a couple of medium laser ports between the CP and the SRM launchers. Heavy x-pulse in one hand, UAC 5 in the other.....put some jump jets on the back and we have a winner.

you mean the humanoid kind with the heads and stuff? no thank you. i'm going pure tank-on-legs MW type with this one.
and BTW, it has knees. it has a walk cycle as well.
-
Classic Btech also includes the clan designs, somewhere i have some books, if i can find em i'll scan some clan stuff photos in for you. This would be a clan design.
-
the knees look fine. why do people always want mechs to look like humans anyway? the less obviously that they do, the better.
-
it's not going to look human, i don't want that.....when i say knees, i mean make them bend oposite those of a human. Like a madcat or a shadowcat, or almost any clan mech. This one has a definite clan feel to it, and most of them do not look human. I prefer them
-
It has knees? Where? All I see are hip and ankle joints.
-
they're between the hips and the ankles. at the sort of swelling.
-
it could pass for a Construction-MOD C, but cant really qualify as a decent battlemech, the thing would probably walk like ass.
you would need to make it taller, with more of a haunched stance, with bigger guns and missle ports. Or just reform it into a scout mech, cuz they kick ass.
