Title: Attention to detail (and random rants)
Post by: TrashMan on January 28, 2005, 07:34:56 pm
I have been making models and some test missions for my campaign, but hte real work is starting right now.

You ask on what the hell did I spend all this time? Gathering data to make it as FS-ish as possible (ship locations, system descriptions, timeline, events, etc...)

I'm still not done sine I need more data on systems (nebula colour, planet numbers)

Once I'm done, I'll probably put it all into one big text file. Having the FS2 universe/campaign broken up into dozens of (sometimes innacurate or incomplete) files doesn't help much and can not only get confusing, but allso takes time to find what you want.

Basicly I plan (or propose for the community) to do the following:

Detailed description of systems Followed by the detailed timeline
Time, location, event, details on ship movements and losses

Example:

Deneb (2 planets, 3 moons, red nebula) - 13th Vas battlegroup stationed there. civilian stations and traffic abdundant. moderate pirate activity.
....

27th December 2337, Deneb, Battle between the NTF and GTVA. GTVA losses: GVC Andromeda, GTC Trafalgar, 4 fighter wings

To be fair to Trashman there is nowhere that I know of that has a list of all the systems where you can just click on one and get all the information on that system.

I for one would find that sort of organisation very useful. This would be something nice to add to the Stars and Planets section of the Wiki.

YOu missed my point gys. there are files with info, but tehy are scattered around and contain narrow information on just one subject.

I tough of putting everythinng that is needed to maek a fs2 compatable campaign inot one file.

I didn't miss the point. I think it's a very good idea. I just think that putting this on the wiki is a better idea than putting it in a file or on some new website for it :D

If you look you've got some of the basics set up for you already

BTW What the hell happened to your typing? :p

Speed!.. And not paying attention:D

That stars wiki thing looks cool, but need more stuff...

Next thing to do would be the detailed timeline. Meh..I'll have to go trough the FS2 campaign again to pick up all the peices.

On another note - I finally discovered what was cosing such redicolous slowdowns on my PC - the "use .tga and. jpg" option.

Well, it's intended for people making campaigns set during the FS2 timeline.
And it could be usefull for any campaing set in the FS universe...
