Ran FRED2Open 3.6.5, tinkered around a bit, tried creating a five minute mission to test some mods I am doing, saved, then exited FRED.    Upon exit, I was greeted with a nice screen flickering, followed by a screen resolution of 640x480 at 32bit and 60Hz.  I tried to go into display properties to fix this, but it told me I didnt have enough permissions to do so, or something.  A reboot would be the only way to fix it.  Just to confirm, I did it again, and the same thing happened.

Are you running NT/2K/XP under a user rather than administrator account? If so when you try to change the registry windows will complain at you.

Don't know why you wouldn't have run into this problem before though.
