Napalm the ****ers off the face of the earth. (Collateral damage is acceptable to prevent the spread of the disease)I know I'm usually more of the liberal approach to life, but I don't mess around when it comes to diseases and illness.

Chinas been trying to deny this for years. If it is becoming contagious to humans, it places them, in particular, in one hell of a health risk...
-
What we need is some sort of bird-hunting robot. Preferably one that looks like a bird.
-
I like how it say's "now" as cases have already been reported for some time of it being contagiuous between humans, they have even become almost common place in areas such as China. To be honest we're gonna get it bad...real bad if the W.H.O. is correct, still, our population growth does need to be curbed somewhat, if we are to attempt to sustain our societies.

Shut the borders. Give a 5 Day notice period and then after that noone comes in t this country and noone goes out.
-
Or possibly just work out a vaccination against Bird-Flu, soak Bird-feed in it and then leave it in feed-boxes all round the place.. That, at least, would save having to slaughter several million birds ;)
-
yes that's a great idea, that way the virus will be imune to it when we try to use it in humans
-
Considering it is a mutation of the virus that is getting to humans in the first place, which would require a different vaccine, and also considering that, if the carriers are clean, the disease doesn't exist to mutate.
Let's say we kill the birds, great, no more bird flu, so, what do we now do about the massive outbreak of Malaria, Hep B and other Insect transmitted disease that were kept in check by the birds eating them? Should we kill all the Insects as well? But then, without birds & insects, plants don't get pollinated and the forest start to die back, thus forcing other predators out into the open for their food. So we'd have to kill those as well...
I'm sure you can see where this is going ;)

Update. UN called in.
-
The World Health Organization's biggest concern is that the virus may mutate into a form easily spread from person-to-person, potentially sparking a pandemic. Most cases so far have been traced to sick poultry and there is no evidence that the disease has altered.
So it can go bird -> human, but not human -> human....
Well, I'm sure the Australians here are aware of the danger of playing too much with the Ecology, I just hope a way can be found to fix it that won't damage things too much in the future.
-
If someone's already proved it can go human to human tho....
-
Interesting, that case is in Thailand, the UN are going into Vietnam....
