I've basically run out of ideas on what to do with this, so if you have any they'd be appreciated.
I have no friggin' clue how I'm ever going to get it textured and .pof'ed. Probably I'll just rip off some Volition textures, since the odds of me ever making a decent texture are about the same as the odds of getting hit by lightning in an underground bunker. The .pof is going to be more troublesome.

Not bad... Definately lot better... alltough I think you're wasting polys on those window-like things
-
LOL you do my method: keep bevelling and quad-dividing until it looks good ^_^
looks good, though
-
Looks like a new Wing Commander capship design.
I like it
-
Looks like an Inferno design. Good Work.
-
Is there a fighterbay on that thing and if yes, where?
-
@Trashman: Not windows. Box-style torpedo launchers. That'd be more obvious if I could decide how to texture them.
@Trival: No fighterbay. It's a corvette, class name is going to be GTCv Akula. Relies on torpedos rather then beam cannon, has some flak and AAA mounts to keep fighters honest.
-
In that case, it might be a cool addition to put some sensor probes on the front, sticking forward from the underside of the sloped nose.
-
looks good it olny needs litle more smooth work specialy on nose

:shaking: Torpedoes are not FreeSpace!

 You amuse me. And I suppose they called the Cyclops and Helios torpedos by accident? Or how about that fusion mortar that's mounted on the Fenris, Leviathan, and Hapshepshut? A torpedo by any other name would look the same.
While I texture, here's the tech room info I cooked up.
"The new Akula-class corvette was under development before the Second Shivan Invasion as an anti-capital escort to the Hecate-class destroyer. Original armed with an unprecedented number of Type 3 beam cannon (six small Type 3 mounts) and quite slow, the Second Shivan Invasion resulted in a radical repurposing of the design.
"When reports from the field about the new SC Rakshasa and rearmed SC Lilth began arriving, they inspired what amounted to a minor panic in the GTVA Admirality. Cruisers were not supposed to be able to challenge destroyers. The GTVA Admirality revised the design specifications of the Akula, calling for a ship able to either render a Shivan cruiser unable to fight or destroy it outright in a single volley.
"Despite the best efforts of Han-Ronald engineers, they simply could not make it work using conventional beam cannon and were about to give up on the design when someone proposed the use of multiple launchers for Cyclops torpedos instead of the normal beam cannons. Though unconventional, this proved to be much simpler to do.
"The new Akula retains the heavy armor of its original incarnation, but thanks to a surfeit of power generation from its early beam-armed days it is the fastest and most agile capital ship in the GTVA's arsenal, capable of 45 m/s at flank speed. It can engage an enemy capital ship with up to eight modified Cyclops torpedos in a single volley, enough to destroy or severely damage any cruiser class currently known. While Akula's modified Cyclops packs slightly more punch then the standard-issue bomber version, it unfortunately has a much slower rate of fire, only firing once every thirty-five seconds. The modified Cyclops torpedos are also vunerable to defensive fire from the target, though they do move more quickly then the standard versions."

true. although FS2 is more about capship beam and fighter wars than torpedo wars. FS1 just relied on fighters.
BTW, that's a nice techroom description, although i'm not feeling it.
-
It's still too low-poly for me - the front in particular is far too angular and simple (those spiky bits look awful IMO). Needs to be better defined and detailed...
The general shape is quite nice, though - keep at it. :)

Maybe some other time and place...but right now this has pretty much pushed my modelling skills as far as they go, and I literally can't improve on it any more without making it look like crap. And I've textured it, so I'm loathe to make changes. Only God knows if the texturing will survive being exported to .3ds, or how I'm going to get it from .3ds into .cob and thence PCS.
But in the meantime, here's the textured version.

once it's finished, you mind if i put it on hades-combine?
-
It looks much better skinned. Great work. :)
-
good design :)
it really has an inferno-like-feel to it...
reminds me of that capship umm think its called liberty
btw, nice tex mappin (a little bit of deimos?)
-
nah, more SOC style.

Man, that ship has sort of a resemblance to my ship that im currently working on. But of course yours is a whole lot better than mine (details!). oh and exellent work. I really like the design, and the tech-description.
