Umm Yeah.
-
Yup, there are always morons.
I think that forcing unemployed women into prostitution is somehow not going to sit very well with the Human Rights courts.
Either way, it's disgusting they should be doing it :(
-
Well, that's some screwed up law :p
Bah, a couple cases like that and they'll be forced to correct it. It always worked that way.
-
Another victory for red tape there.
-
Thing is, it sounds like the guy they are talking to is some kind of Gestapo wannabe, it's probably just the translation from German to English, which can sound abrupt, but I just get the image of a pompous little git in a black uniform :(
-
Do try not to confuse Europe and Germany - they are separate things :)
-
And how does this concern Europe ? It's Germany only, as far as I can see. Just wanted to get the facts straight.
-
now that is just really wrong.
-
Pht, it's not gonna stay. And I doubt the women are actually going to be forced into prostitution, as in they could always get a different job.
-
I think there is this image of Europe as a single entity united in their hatred of America. Strange really, we are usually far too busy trying to kick each other in the balls to get united enough for that.
Either way, as Nico says, it'll hit the courts once or twice, and the law will be fixed.
-
Quite so.
-
There are some guys in administrative positions that need some serious treatment. But that's true for any country. Just take that case to the courts, and the administrative rule this decision is based on will die quickly.
BTW : Germany != Europe. We just pay that place, but we don't run it. ;)
-
The UK knows how you feel :p
-
what a stupid idea.
I doubt it will stand up to a legal challenge.
-
The government had considered making brothels an exception on moral grounds, but decided that it would be too difficult to distinguish them from bars.
 I'm sure that's exactly what they tell their wives.
-
oh btw, before believing it you might actually go check out wether or not GERMAN news is reporting this...and to what extent, cause we all know that UK news-outlets aren't exactly "fair and balanced" when it comes to all things EU.
-
That issue is not related to the EU, it's based on a german law without any EU directive or regulation.
And this has indeed been on the news over here. ;)
-
@Crazy_Ivan: Dude, the BBC just admitted it's biased in favour of the EU.

They're neutral at best :doubt:
oh, and general concensus elsewhere is that the Telegraph pulled this story out of their asses... i.e. they kinda made it up.
-
Ah well, sometimes a biased media can be a good thing eh? :p
-
If you were talking Mirror or Sun then yes, I'd accept that statement Ivan, the BBC however has always been pro-Europe. From a financial point of view for them, it's the ticket to a Gold Mine. Things may have been lost in interpretation, but I suspect the core of the story is correct.
-
You know you're talking out of your ass when you say the BBC is unbiased. Unbiased media does not exist, full stop.
If the story is true, which I suspect it could well be, then it proves that legalising prostitution like any other valid profession - however immoral you might consider it - to these wacky legal manifestations.
