Some EA (or whatever) ships:
Taurus class destroyer from the 2350s/60s
(http://tinypic.com/1iid85)
has no beams but huge, powerful anticap cannons instead + deflector shield system
The Excaliber class dreadnaught
(http://tinypic.com/1iielj)
Equipped with 2 huge beams, an advanced warp engine (allows nodeless travel and does minimal damage to subspace) + a deflector shield
I'll post an ani of the Excaliber warping in once I manage to get it hosted
Comments?/Someone wants to texture them?
(If the pics don't show (red cross), rclick->Show Pic. It should work)

Very nice. I like those ships alot.
As far as texturing, I'm still not finished a texturing job a started almost a year ago, so... needless to say that's on top of a list of things to do that seems like it's going to take me 20 years to get do.
Once again, great work knn!
-
Woah very cool
-
This thread is the devil!
Ahhh!
-
Whoah, nice. Very.
-
That destroyer's pretty good. As of yet, I don't like the dreadnought - put considering it's a WIP, it's fine. :)
-
Destroyer- adding few more details on top and bottom nose would be good move
BTW nice model:D
Drednought - it still WIP..but i dont like it
-
you are my favorite newb
put a few poly line greebles on that first one it's a bit too smooth for a terran ship IMO (just grab a few connected polys and extrude them a little.)
-
i honestly didnt like most of the terran ships in fs2, too boxy for my tastes. i perfer more curvy surfaces. i really like the 2nd one though.
-
So guess I'm the only one to notice the incredibly crazy formatting on this thread, with ship pictures after every post?
EDIT - WTF - fixed itself.
Aaah! Or not!
-
I'm guessing that your Excaliber class dreadnaught model is inspired by the Excaliber class destroyer from B5 "A Call To Arms" and "Crusade", though with clipped arms. I agree that they look a bit to smooth for Terran ships in the FS universe, however, they might fit the bill for Kazan's Ferrium project. I'm not sure if he's still looking for models for that game, or if its even still in-progress, but it reminds me of other craft he's expressed an interest in.
Later!

Both look quite influenced by B5...
first looks like the Warlock-class
(http://www.b5tech.com/earthalliance/earthallianceshipsandvessels/earthcapships/warlock/warlockglory.jpg)
second like the the Victory-class
(http://www.b5tech.com/isa/excalibur/excalibur.jpg)
Still I like the general design of both ships....could have some more details...but they look like a good basis.
If you go for FS2 style human ships it has to be more edgy, if not keep it as you like ^_^
-
I assumed when he said EA he meant B5's Earth Alliance.
-
Except that he uses FS dates and subspace in their tech. To me it looks like a hybrid between B5 and ST, since there are warp nacelles on the Excaliber and deflector dishes on both.

My thoughts exactly...

EA=GTA in Sol after Lucifer's destruction
The Excaliber was insiperd by the B5 Excaliber, but I haven't seen a picture of that ship for years. I just remembered the general design, which I liked (I didn't like the Excaliber itself) When I designed the yet unnamed dreadnaught, I wanted to give it 4 engine pods, like the Hades, but then decided to give it three, like the B5 Excaliber and named it after that ship. The destroyer has a few design elements from the Warlock, like the Fighter Bay and the smaller weapon platforms on the sides (they'll have rotating turrets on them).
Deflector dish: Advanced capital ship shielding technology developed by the GTA (or EA), but I can remove them if you don't like them.
Advanced warp drive: A bit influenced by ST, but it works in a different way. Someone tell me where I can host that ani.

That destroyer is badass besides the little spike on the front left part. Get rid of that :P.

New engines, closed

New engines, open

The engines open up just before warping out.
Also, minor update to the Taurus:

Fix the linkies.
edit: Still no worky. Maybe it's just my tardiness or something.
-
Fixed, both should work
-
Well, show me a place where I can host them and I'll put them there.
-
Looking good.
-
Could you download the avis?
-
Why are the screenies repeated? I can see 2 of each.
-
The little one has neat guns. I like it.
