Title: Capship weapons

I was wondering what the Capship weapons are going to be like, apart from beams, torpedos and plasma are there any other Capital to Captial weapons and how diverse will they be between the different species?  that was my main critisiam(sp) against FS2 was the fact that the vasudans used the same weapons as the terrans, Or do we just have to wait and see?

Vasudans use spacial charges, EA have railguns, Terrans have Plasma weapons and Shivans have some crazy stuff :D

I actually rather liked the fact Vasudans and Terrans were using the same weapons for the most part in FS2. Makes sense from a logistical standpoint.

Of course, Inferno paints a more seperated picture of the GTVA, so different weapons make sense for Inferno.

With the vacuum of space I'm not exactly sure this would be an ideal weapon. :)

Fighterbeams aren't Shivan exclusive now, but they get the better ones :nod:

Yeah we have a lot of cluster weapons, we had to bump the limit in our builds because we have too many :D

I hate fighterbeams. An AI fighter goes from redshirt-like to never missing in accuracy when you give it fighterbeams.

Ours can be dodged sometimes, and we've limited the amount of time the ai can fire them.

Best thing to do is not get in front of a Harpy ;)

I wouldn't know so :p

Fighterbeams don't penetrate shields either, but once your shields are down, you won't last long.

Hmm doubt it, only the Vasudan bombers have them.

plasma weapons???

i got some plasma "pulse" weapon off the internet somewhere. its kinda like those plasma weapons from starlancer. is these plasma weapons something along those lines? i can send ya's the .tbl file for the plasma cannon i have(theres a terran-vasudan one and a shivan one just fyi). it would be also kinda cool if plasma cannons were an additional form of anti-ship weapon, like beam cannons and torpedoes, with their own special-looking turret.

Just a thought :P

Ours are slow plasma shots used for anti-warship support. They're far more effective than beams and are heavily carried by the Oberon destroyer. Old versions of the weapon appear in one of the old trailers.

yeah, when i first dl'ed this plasma cannon, it was pretty slow. SO i upped the speed the bolt travels, cuz sometimes the ships were a little ways off.

By the way, i tried doing a google img search for some of the ships, and they're gone! did someone take the pages down.....?? lol

i can imagine.

I can prolly get a hold of a server where theres a good deal fo space, if y'all would like to have a website somewhere.....i mean, for the images...

and im taking comp programming at college, so i know html and some CSS, and im learning CGI and PHP, so if ur looking for someone do help out with it(take a load off your shoulders, so to speak, so you guys can kinda focus more on the mod itself...) im available.

Just thought id offer.

We have unlimited space here. Though we can't waste space, and the staff modpack takes up quite a bit, so I deleted some of the old stuff.

Oh right I didn't know the Isdes was a beam, I thought only the Alkar series were beams :p

Bah. BAH, I say!

Nothing outclasses beams, at least when it comes to watching the capship duels using them.

What? Most R1 sounds will be the same in R2? Can't you get better ones? Jeez... the GTVA Rapid Laser sounds just like something from ST: Voyager(it most definitely is from Voyager), and there are a whole bunch from Descent 3... and those weren't even very good.

Nope, we're quite happy with them, and we have far better things to do than to run around looking for more sounds. We have 224 sound entries now, so that would be a lot to replace.
