Title: Beyond Good and Evil
Post by: Liberator on February 01, 2005, 06:52:02 pm
I've been playing BG&E for the last week or so, and I'm stuck.

I'm in the Slaughterhouse and I need 2 square keys.  Every FAQ in the universe says to get it from the 3rd robot in the same room.  I've killed the damn thing 10 times and it just flashes the key being in a dark area and there is no key on the ground to pick up.  Help!!!

I haven't played it in forever.  I don't remember any of it being all that hard to figure out.  Wish I could help you.

Just curious and I'm sorry I can't be helpful but what's BG&E?

Like Eishtmo, I would love to help you but I played it long enough ago to have forgotten these sorts of things.

Maybe if you could post a screenshot or something? I remember there being a few nasty places in the game like that and there's always a way, usually an obvious one.

I'm in this room in the Slaughterhouse.  To the right, there is an alcove with a pearl(which I took) and an mdisk reader.

I need 2 triangle keys to get through this door, of which I have one.

There is a button on the left side that opens the 3 panels in the ceiling and releases 3 "security" robots.  They don't do much except roll around sometimes and basically make pests of themselves and they are accompanied by some annoyingly upbeat music.  ALL the guides say that the second triangle key is dropped by the last robot of the first batch after it is destroyed, I've replayed that part several times and it doesn't drop.

oooh, now I remember!

Yeah, I had trouble here too. I think you have to get the electrcity going or something like that. I remember you have to push some things around, or pick up a spare part?. Just look around the room, and interact with whatever you can.

I also seem to recall there being several "batches" or robots, that just keep coming as you kill them. I think there are like 4 or 5 groups, and after you kill them ALL, then you get the key. At first, I though they respawned infintely, but it turns out there is actually an end, its just really hard to kill them all and stay alive.

Okay, I thought it was something like that, causes the key started to glow after a couple of batches.

I have to say, this is the best looking game in my library.

I absolutely agree. Just being in the game world is fun by itself.

You won't regret it. You'll find it really cheap (nobody bought it when it came out, the fools), and it's beautifully realised.

I absolutely love this game. EVERYTHING Ubisoft makes is excellent. I can even get past my French politics hatred to enjoy their creative talents. VIVA LA FRANCE.

I haven't got that far yet. I don't even know how to get to the Slaughter house. That darn floaty robot keeps towing me away!

there's a bug in the PC version that makes this a problem, the second square key just doesn't drop from where it is... the solution i can suggest is either finding a patch, or editing the savegame..

BTW Lib, take all those energy things (gives you the hearts) away from the other guy.  He hardly ever gets hurt enough to need them.  You do.  Especially for the last boss of the game.  Hoard them all.

Yeah, if its a legit version you could try patching it if it is indeed a bug.

What would you by it for? The computer or the consoles, and if consoles then which one?

The bug went unaddressed in the patch according to my research.  Ubisoft knows about it, but aren't going to do jack crap since only about 5% of the user base was affected.  The alternative is to cheat and hack the saved games, give yourself 2 keys and then you only have to fight the robots once.

TC, I'd go for the console version(it's great on the pc, but it's really setup for consoles) and for which ever one you have.

Eishtmo, Double H or P'eyj?

Neither needs them at all.  Load them up on Jade, by the end of the game you'll be all by yourself and it's a ***** to beat the game if you don't have all of them in your grubby hands.

Don't give it away. But needless to say, the end of the game is a ***** to beat.

It's not that hard, you just have to realize that at one point during the final encounter your controlls will be centrally mirrored.

It's still pretty damn tricky, especially if you don't instantly realise when everything changes, or how to do each bit. But yeah, you will need as much health as you can get...
