Title: A challenge for a render
Post by: Ace on May 21, 2001, 07:44:00 pm: With all of Bobboau's great work on the Ancients, how about a wee challenge.

Make a mesh and texture for one (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Below is an image for their 'headz' while the rest of the body, as long as it's bipedal and is able to modify it's environment with some form of hand, is up to you...

Their hull design looks very scaly so i think they would look the same. Since their technology was more advanced i doubt it is unreasonable to assume they would have modified themselves to a degree as well.

I chalenge anyone to find the eyes of the aliens (from the movie "Alien", of course). Believe me, they have 2 big eyes, and no, they're not the "prongs" on the side of their head (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Ummm...acording to HR. Geiger, the Alien designer, They don't have any eyes. He didn't give them eyes so that we couldn't relate to them. They were then truely alien.

Post by: Nico on May 22, 2001, 03:10:00 pm: W=Styrange, coz I have a book written by giger himself, and it tells were are the eyes, and to illustarate what he tells, he shows a pic where you can actually see them (pic from the first movie), and some pics of the Alien costum being made, and the head is buit around a human skull... the eyes are at the same place we have ours, but they're hidden behind what Giger calls "a semi-transparent crani, stretching back over the whole cranium and showing the eye-holes in the skull" (Giger's Alien, page 58)
