Run into a small problem, everytime I play an AVI file my computer freezes forcing me to reboot. Help?
-
make sure it's an AVI?
Load it into VirtualDub and recompress it?
-
*raised eyebrow* Does it happen with a particular video, or any? What program are you trying to use, OS, specs etc.?
-
Probably one of your Direct Show filters is buggy - whenever a file is loaded that needs it, it can knock the lights out.
I used to have this problem when matroska pack was installed, but vobsub wasn't.

If it won't play with the Klite codec pack, I don't bother...
-
Lib, that's not what he means - whenever he tries to play a specific file his comp crashes.
Also, I'm afraid to tell you that there is no such thing as ultimate codec pack.
Simply put they don't remain up to date forever.
-
They do when someone is actively keeping them up to date.
-
If you really want to use a codec pack, go ahead by all means. Its your system you're potentially screwing up. I don't trust any codec pack's quality enough to install that ****e on my systems.

The Klite pack has never installed a virus on my system. That's one of the reasons I like it.

Drag the movie onto your gspot (http://www.headbands.com/g-spot/)

That's not the problem - apparently you never suffered from a poorly done pack like Nimo....
...and trust me that fate will reach any pack. For new standards are developed each year.

I'm still experiancing trouble, it seems that Windows Media Player and Winamp as well as DivX are freezing up whenever I try to play AVI , WMV or any other files that has a video on it. Again sorry for the bump.
:sigh:
