Set it to 64 time compression, and spent 15 or so minutes trying to get to the surface of Earth in the second to last mission in R1? I have. It's pretty pointless... and you can also blow Earth up, if you're cheating.
-
yeah that would be kind of pointless, and not possible under retail FS2.
-
Depending on your patience of course.
-
No in retail you'd explode after you reach the 60km distance limit :p
-
How come you replied to my post before I made it?
-
because it's the Inferno forum and I rule here :D
-
The model has no debris.
-
If you make yourself invulnerable YOU don't die when u cross THE LIMIT :shaking:
-
Well I've never tested that since I don't use cheats :p
-
Yes, the Earth in R1 is a lazy model. You blow it up, and you get this stupid little explosion. No uber-debris. No uber-shockwave. Just some explosion that lasts about five seconds. BORING! You can't destroy it without cheats anyway. Even the subspace weapon doesn't even damage it. It has no collision points. And yes, I did fly to the Earth. I was hoping eventually I'd get so close that I could fly around NYC. Oh well. (I wasn't really expecting that would happen...)
-
Yeah, Woo's right... it doesn't do anythng except a big explosion... not even any sound, methinks. Even if it did have debris, I'm not sitting down in front of the computer for 15 minutes just to do that.
The only reason you can get to it in the first place is because it's not an actual background...

It was designed like that to prevent people blowing it up :p
