It probably won't work, but it would be seriously awesome if it would work.
We could fire B&B OURSELVES! that alone should be worth it.

ROFFLES!!!!!111oneone1shift1one

Hehe :D It would be cool though, if it were actually viable.
-
Gee.....that sounds a vaguely familiar idea, I wonder why?
-
No clue ;)

Man, when I tried to get you all to give me money to save Freespace, I didn't get responses like that. I had a much more competent presentation than his. What gives?
No trust in the world these days, I tells ya. Except from Star Trek fans. Either that, or you're a lot of stingy bastards.
Oh, incidentially, only one of you has donated money to the One High Church of Stryke so far.
OH THE HUMANITY! SEND MONEY BEFORE GOD KILLS MORE ANIMALS!
-
anyone remember than Sprite commercial from the mid 90s, or is it just me?
Though you can't reasonably expect FS2 fans to be nearly as numerous as Trekkies, or as fanatical. One is an acclaimed, though quite obscure space sim from 5 years ago, and the other is a multi-billion dollar franchise that's been on the air for several decades.
-
They don't intend to buy the Star trek franchise as such (doh :p). Hell, not even the Enterprise series as a whole. But instead only buy the next season.
If there somehow was a sure way to reach all Trekkies across the globe, I would have no doubt that it could actually succeed. But the internet is very limited and only a small fraction of Trekkies will actually know about this action. That's why it will fail unless some rich dude(tte) jumps in with a ****load of cash.
-
Even if in the extremely unlikely possibility that they somehow raised the money, it wouldn't happen. Think about it - that 1.6 million per ep doesn't cover the potential profit Paramount could make by using their sets and studios for other things. Plus they'd be unlikely to want to entrench themselves in the potential legal quagmire this'd create. Finally, what major network is going to air a fifth season of a show that was already axed once for poor ratings? Again, that's an hour of airtime that they could be using on more profitable shows.
So yeah. A nice dream, but basically impossible, on multiple fronts.
-
And what advertiser would advertise on it?
-
Okay, good sharing, everybody. Now, I'm going to go around the circle and I want each person to share why they want a fifth season of Enterprise. Then I want you to repeat after me, "Star Trek has gone to a better place, and I'm okay with that. I am stronger than my sequel urges. I can move on!"
-
You. Shut. Up.
Seriously, all you doom sayers are starting to piss me off. I'll bet that you haven't even watched the last season? Even the most anti-Enterprise people on SpaceBattles who have seen the last season say that it is a shame that they are cancelling it. And believe me when I say they were RABIDLY anti-ENT. But it has improved 10-fold, if not more, after Manny Coto took over.
Most people who hate Enterprise have seen a few episods of season 1 (which does suck though) and now say the netire series suck. Either watch season 4 and then say what you think of it, or just shut up.
EDIT: If you have seen S4, you are simply narrowminded if you still say it's a bad show not worthy of another season.

Of course, there's always the old saying - you can't polish a turd.

Yes, you can. Hell, you can make diamonds out of turds if you really wanted to. :D
-
You may be able to make a diamond out of a turd, but Scott Bakula's "acting" will produce a rhinestone at best.

UPN? Profitable shows? They'd probably just fill it in with syndication of The Parkers.

I know not this UPN of which you speak, so I kind of assumed they were at least moderately sensible, as TV stations go.
-
Enterprise was/is still the show with the highest rating on UPN, even if it has hit an all-time low.
That should say enough :p
