Title: Which Browser?
Post by: Kie99 on February 08, 2005, 04:14:09 pm
I'm wondering which free web browser I should use, and I was wondering what you guys thought.

WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE BROWSER, AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHY?

(I don't want any Microsoft 5|_|><><0® and is pure 3\/1L!!!!!!!!!!oneoneoneeleven Use Linux 'cos it l33tn355 and become an Übe® |-|4XX0®! )

Firefox. I have used it for some time now, and it is so much better than the "good old" IE.

Feuerfox. It's just superior to everything I've come up with.

Firefox. Tabbing, better protection from bad things, etc. Did I mention a favorites toolbar up top?

I could say so many things I like about Firefox, but I guess tabbing is one good reason, eh?

Firefox, cause it's got the tabbing thing going and it loads faster than Opera.

Firefox - easy to use, easy to configure, and very stable. If you get bored, you can also play with the settings in about:config, too. :p

Konqueror - it's installed with KDE, and has many of the good features of Firefox. Doesn't seem quite as secure/stable as Firefox, but I'm reluctant to use up the MB to load Firefox onto my Linux partition.

Been using Firefox for some time now and i am stuck.  I use it simply beacuse it has better features than IE which is 3 or 4 years old now i guess and no new version is coming out in a long time.

Firefox, because Internet Explorer is an Old English phrase meaning "MORE ADWARE PLEASE!"

I'll use Firefox fairly often, but it has a few glitches on my system - so if it doesn't handle my cookies properly, I'll switch to IE.

My Favorite Browser was in Super Mario 64. he was so much bigger and more menacing than in the older mario games, though the Browser in Super Mario Bros. 3 was pretty big looking too. in Super Mario Bros. 1 and Super Mario World, you don't really even fight him face to face. You just make the bridge drop, or throw mecha-koopas at him. In SMB 3 and Mario 64 you actually fight him yourself.

Okay, I carried that one on long enough.

FireFox, because IE crashes all the time, lets adware through like a sieve, and doesn't have tabs.

Oddly enough, I didn't like tabs when I first started using FF, but they've grown on me.  They're especailly useful for browsing forums. :)

And shouldn't this be a poll?

Firefox, cause its customizable. The only extension that's not available is one that wipes your ass for you, and I hear they're already working on it.

Firefix is good, but I have to keep IE around for the crappy cites that only work on IE.

Firefox. All reasons have been mentioned before. ;)

BTW, perhaps it's an idea to establish a "Get IE" avatar instead of the Firefox thingy, given the percentage of Firefox users... :p :D

IE....

....nah just kidding... it's Firefox really :D

Safari looks cooler than FF, but loses out on the tabbing side, and IE just isn't good:

In fact I just fired it up, and it refused to quit, so I had to use the 'Force Quit' option to get rid of it :ick:

In fact, now I come to think of it all the MS software I have seems to have become less stable recently (Excel, Word, Entourage) I feel there is a conspiracy afoot to force me into buying Office 2004. :mad2:

..so yeah FIREFOX!

What's wrong with minimized windows?

I'm sure if you really wanted a poll on this you would add one.  You added snufflepaugus (sp?) to my GTA Vs. PVN poll.

The reason I didn't add a poll was because I didn't know what browsers people would come up with.

oprah!

err, opera. and because I like the mouse gestures and the ones you can get for firefox isn't as good and it also seems like opera is faster somehow.

Firefox here. I tried Opera, and it was very good, but the adverts in the free version annoyed me. Firefox is excellent. It doesn't crash, it doesn't have all the vulnerabilities that IE has, and the tabs and customisable toolbars are very useful.

Minimized windows are a pin in the arse, because if you have about 8 sites open, you can't see what they all are, and they take up your whole taskbar. With FF, you can have lots of sites open, and only have one taskbar tab. Also, you can minimize everything at once if you want, rather than having to do each window on it's own. Firefox is the way to go. I don't even have IE installed on my machine any more.

Minimized windows involves 4 clicks - right click, select Open In New Window, minimize the new window, click on the original window.  Whereas to open something in a new tab you only need 1 click.  It makes forum browsing much faster when you're opening a bunch of threads.

For one thing, you can't add a poll to a thread if it was posted without one.  For another, I wasn't saying the thread should have a poll, I was just asking why you didn't make one.
