i still can't get over the fact that starbuck is a woman in the new series... as she was a he in the original.. :p
-
uh...you do realize they are probably starting it anew cause its bringing in the $$ and for no other actual reason?
That said, I know not of this Battlestar Galactica...what is it? Something to do with impressive space battles and stuff?
-
You haven't seen it??!?
Man, turn on the TV...somewhere....its on in US, UK, and Canada...maybe elsewhere. Its really well done. Its based on the original series but its totally reimagined which is a good thing.
Its very character oriented, its apocalyptic in a number of ways, but its very compelling. And yes, there's some good space battles in there...haven't seen anything quite as spectacular as we saw in the last three seasons of B5 but we're getting there!
-
uhhhhhhh.....that stuff might be popular in the US, but I'm actually really lucky that they show Stargate and Enterprise (Unfortunately, even that is on at totally useless timings that im away from home :ick: ) here, much less any sci-fi programs...im doomed to be stuck with the crappy free channels and hte reality tv they put on :(
-
Reality TV is the only thing that sucks worse than I do. Except The Surreal Life, although this latest season was kinda sucky.

And why is the show raking in the $$? Perhaps because many people are watching!!! Last week they got their highest rating since it premiered. Over 3.2 million folks tuned in, destroying Atlantis and the doomed Enterprise.
Shows don't generate money without an audience.
-
Yes, but my point still stands that the main goal they are doing this is for the money. It's just that they appeared to have spent the initial investment wisely, by being a bit more patient and actually knowing what people want, as opposed to certain other corporations. *cough* paramount *cough*
-
I guess major studios should just produce TV shows at their expense for the soul purpose of entertaining the masses with no expectation of reimbursement, or God forbid, profit. Profitwhich will be invested into more shows to produce.
-
now that would be Utopia, now wouldn't it :P
-
Now if only, animators, actors, directors, key grips, assistants, make up artists, etc....
ALL worked for free.
-
*Hands Omniscaper a melted sarcasm detecter :p
calm down man, what's with the aggression here?
-
No agression, just a reality check. I love my baby.
-
and a pretty baby she be........;)
-
... and yes of course BSG got another series. It's bloody fantastic.
-
Indeed. That's good news.
-
Told ya so.;)
Best sci-fi series I've seen in ages.
-
Just because a company makes a decision doesn't automatically make it a good one. A lot of businesses seem to forget that they should expect to make a loss on their products before they get a long term gain. But as they're likely more in touch with their business model rather than rabid fanboys/girls, their profit projections are somewhat more likely to be accurate ;)

Or the BBC :D

EXCELLENT :)
Now, who said it's going to be a year wait? Where is that written? We should get it in the fourth quarter of the year.

From what I've seen, the she is much more interesting character-wise than the he, tho.
I hate that "it was better before" thing, the original show was good before, now it's lame and kitsh :p

Same here, the two first episodes, I guess. Cool in every regard, save for the cyllon, they still look ridiculous :p

The ships or the robotic walking guys?
I like the new Starbuck....she does a really great job of latching onto some of the things that the old one did (facial expression, cigars, gambling, etc.) but she's a woman too. I think its a great setup.

The two. The new ships, they managed to take an overdone design and give it a... head.
That said, their stations are cool. In fact, almost all the ships are cool, the BsG is cool, all those civilian ships are cool, the vypers are racy, can't deny that ( not my taste, but still ), but those inox things, blargh :p

I agree :)
One question: the original series, it was also people from some colony with a weird religion? Couldn't bear more than the few episodes I saw a couple years ago and gave up before learning anything interesting. That or I don't remember, your choice :p
-
Can't wait for the new season. Great news.
-
IN OTHER NEWS, CAPS ARE REALLY ANNOYING WHEREVER SOME FORUMITE DECIDES TO MAKE THREAD TOPICS FULL OF THEM, AS WELL AS IN THE ACTUAL POSTS WHERE YOU COULD EMPHASISE BY WRITING IN ITALICS OR BOLD THE TEXT INSTEAD. UNDERLINING WORKS REALLY DARN WELL TOO. PLEASE THINK ABOUT THIS WHEN MAKING THREADS IN THE FUTURE, OMNISCAPER. THANK YOU.

They do remain true to the original characters triats, relationship problems, a screw up and a cocky pilot.

*****ING ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING MAKES YOU VERY ANNOYING, kODE ( with the little "k", coz last time you *****ed about me using caps on the "k". What are you, again? Mister High Virtue?

Pfff, I don't want to put you on my "ignore" list, I just wonder why the hell do you have to go after everybody's throat like that :doubt:
-
Hmm. kode's remark was actually quite true. And quite funny. ;)
Stay calm, guys.

well, I guess the ignore will be one-sided then. had you not been a moderator, that is.
keep wondering. this time I actually wanted to point to the fact that writing in all caps on the internet is quite rude, and has been the callsign of idiots everywhere. I suspected omniscape didn't want to be taken for one and thusly told him in an illustrating way.
-
You'd put me on your ignore list just coz I made one remark? Ah well, atlk about having a stick in the ass.
"raises shoulders and leaves thread"

no, not because of one remark. because of several ones. and for apparently holding a grudge.

:wtf:
I must have spoken to you once before, and I remember it only coz you whinned as I wrote Kode instead of kode ( omg ). Sorry, but I'm not for those little kinddergarten struggles, so sure, I'll leave you alone, don't cry :doubt:

well, there's a reason for me pointing it out. there's a small town of about 1500 inhabitants with the same name. it's just to avoid mix-ups, and they do happen.
well, I'll let you have the last word, cuz you probably can't keep yourself from replying again...

Why thank you :p
