Title: New VP install
Post by: Blink41990 on February 09, 2005, 08:42:05 pm
Hey everyone,

I found these (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/index.php?pagename=MediaVp) VPs and I would like to install them. Could someone please help me out. I put them in my freespace 2 folder and I can't find a way to activate them. Thanks for your help.

They're activated as you activate features that use them. With fs2_open 3.6.5, for example, if you check "-spec" in the Launcher, the shine maps from the VPs will be used. If you check "-glow", the glow maps will be used.

For a lot of them you'll also have to enable -jpgtga.

Make sure you check this forum thread, too: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,29938.0.html

Hopefully those problems will be fixed in 3.6.6.

Yes, but you'll first need to convert them into .avi format for FS2 to be able to read them. The original .mov format is still liscenced by Interplay, meaning SCP cannot legally play it.

That's technically not true.  We can't legally encode movies with it, but nothing's stopping us from playing MVE movies.

Anyway, there are existing MVE players.  Interplay hasn't complained about them.

Make avi versions yourself (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/freespace/movies.html)

or

Download them (http://web.engr.oregonstate.edu/~plankerj/fs2movies/)
