So far that's not possible, right ?
Well, TBP could really use this for the Shadow/Vorlon ships, since bio-armour spewing flames&smoke looks a bit silly.
So we could use either:
a) A "no-particle-spew" flag in the ships.tbl
or
b) Ship-/species-specific particle animations, so Shadow ships could emmit some black "blood", for example
So...what do the code wizards say ?

I think "$Show Damage:" in the ships.tbl was supposed to do this, but it was never hooked up. It shouldn't be hard to fix it, assuming the flag is set properly for existing ships. If not, we can add "$Really Show Damage" or something. :)

Also TBP has Shadow cruisers which are supposed to bleed when shot.

But only if it was a very serious shot, since they absorbed most of the damage they took.
Only when they lost an "arm" or when they really "died" did they ever bleed on TV.
