I've started playing Deus Ex again, and noticed that something was amiss, as you can see for yourself.

UT also suffers, but not as bad.
I was using Catalyst 5.1s on a Radeon 9800, and upgrading to 5.2s hasn't helped.
Ideas?

Re-install? You could have corrupted texture files or summat. I take it your DirectX is up to date (9.0c)?
You could try running them in Win98 compatability mode or something. They're fairly old games...

Can't be corrupted texture files as UT suffers the same problem, and I only installed that after discovering the problem in DX.
DirectX is up to date, yes.
I think the problem is that the latest Catalysts (5.0 onwards) have buggered it up, as ATi seem to think that nobody would be interested in playing Unreal engine games anymore. ******s.

It's all UT2K3 & 4 these days, but UT should work.
Since the problems only happen in these games, it suggests the programs themselves. I've found older games have real problems maintaining the DX screen, and it sort of 'flickers' between the game and the desktop, but I've no idea what's causing this :(

I've had something like that before... where the little detail that shows up as you get closer to walls and the like became people's faces and stuff like that.
I just stopped playing. Couldn't be bothered, really. :p
And I only use cat4.4
Edit: Great. Seems like I'll have to wait 4 minutes before I can make another post.

Strange.
But hey, if you drank heaps and got really light headed first, it would make for an interesting experience... :D
