It's been licensed to ShoPro. They are of somewhat questionable value: their previous major licensed animes consist entirely of Rockman.exe, known here in the USA as Megaman NT Warrior, which in addition to being poor training for an anime like Naruto was also edited to hell-and-gone.

In short, begin your weeping and gnashing of teeth now.

Naruto is one in line of many Japanese Anime that are being fan subtitled by established groups.

Naruto however, is the only Anime that recieves 25 000 downloads (at peak) when an episode is released by a fan subbing group.

www.narutofan.com

Lucky for me, I have all 121 episodes archived on DVD's.

Cool, cheers BD. I pass this onto my anime-loving friends, they'll love it.

Just keep an eye on your address bar. Occasionally you'll get shuffled along dynamic3, 4, 5 or 6. Each server runs off a different time, so posts will be out of sync. :sigh:

You would think they'd have a better system by now...

You're so far from the truth :p
Here's proshop total license list:
Hamtaro
MegaMan NT Warrior
Croket
Inuyasha
Mirmo!
Sonic X
Taro the Space Alien
Doraemon
Zatch Bell!
Deko Boko Friends
Monkey Turn
Corrector Yui

That's 100% kid shows ( Inuyasha and the couple I don't know left aside ). US Naruto will suffer the same fate as US Saint Seiya: censorship powaaaaaaaaaaa!

Damn... while Narutos formula seems fairly predictable - it's still a lot of fun to watch. I hope they don't do anything to stupid with it.

If you think about it, 80% of the ideas come from Dragonball ( I said dragonball, not dragonball Z ), but yeah, still pretty enjoyable.

I never really watched Dragonball to be honest, though I should probably check it out some time... the predictability I mentioned stems from looking at the chapters that are divided up...

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS IF YOU'VE NOT SEEN NARUTOS ANIMES:

You introduce the main charachters for each side (Hidden Leaf vs whoever) and then combat slowly begins between them.. but is prevented for whatever reason (they got away, he gave her time to think his offer over, whatever).. then finally each group comes together for the inevitable uber-fight in which at least one new move of incredible power will be revealed, or larger numbers will be used (Narutos masterage of Rasengan, The battle of the three Sannin, Byakugan and so on). The bad guy gets beaten or retreats to come back stronger later and things go from there.

Fortunately there's some background story going on behind it all - so the confrontations do have a purpose and each ninjas powers do increase somewhat along the way (as does the story.. Tsunade becoming Hokage for instance).

So yeah... fairly predictable forumla but they do do it well...

Meh, this could be.. bad.
But even so, I'll continue watching the fansubs, I just can't stand dubbing :p
Especially not after watching 121 episodes of it, and then suddenly they are speaking english :sigh:
The Anime version of Naruto has some cencorship even in Japan, (Atleast when you look at some of what happens in the manga.)
I won't say too much, except that it involves a little more.. details :D

Spoiler:
In the fight between Kimimaro and Naruto (Which is still going on in the anime now), you get a little bit more detailed scene when Kimimaro pulls out his shoulder and uses it as a sword (flesh and skin peeling back and bit of blood), instead of like in the Anime, where it looks like the bone morphs out of him (No flesh and skin peeled away.)

But I wouldn't doubt that there will be more cencorship once it's translated and aired on TV in the US.

There are quite a few things that aren't like the manga as well.

In the Manga, Neji's seal on his forehead is actually a reversed swastika.

Gee, I wonder what the writer wanted to say there......

In the anime, it's just an -X-

Stuff like that gets edited for some reason.

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, after Naruto ended (and Naruto2 started), it pretty much proved that it is in fact, _nothing_ like Dragonball at all.

There maaay be some similarities, but it practically shows that this one has its own formula.

Naruto was pretty much just a set-up for Naruto 2 (and maybe Naruto 3, although I don't think 3 is going to happen, the way 2 has kicked off).

AnimeSuki (http://www.animesuki.com/)
On February 15th ShoPro Entertainment announced it was appointed the main licensor for Naruto in the USA. This has lead many to claim Naruto has been licensed. However AnimeSuki sees ShoPro only as a middle-man and not an anime company which releases anime themselves. As such we're not marking it licensed yet. Please note that this situtation may change at any time. Also the ShoPro "license" means Naruto is now much more likely to be licensed in the US, especially by VIZ.

It doesn't matter.

The torrents and the tracker from ANBU and AonE have been removed from Scarywater.

Perhaps because the 'reversed swasticka' is a manji and has been a symbol of for good fortune throughout the east?

Or perhaps that before the swasticka was a symbol of the Nazi party, it was a symbol used by countless civilizations throughout europe?

Hmm...? Just a thought...

The swatiska is actually a Buddhist symbol, the nazi took it over, but reversed, I think.

Plot wise, it's very similar to the original DB ( I repeat, NOT DBZ, heh, Tiara :p - tho there's a handful of ideas from there too ) series. I can make a comparison list if you want, concerning character traits, special rivalry, demonic possession or seal by a big beast, variations of backgroud made from chinese legends and so on, if you want :p

DB is just as bad as DBZ and GT. Period. :ick:

Well, the original with subbing (NOT dubbing) is tolerable. But that's all.

Anything dubbed is intolerable in my book :p
It just takes away too much of whatever it is I'm watching.

Oh.. and Animesuki has removed Naruto from it's website.
Bah..
Oh well, I'll find some means of getting episode 122 tomorrow, hopefully Dattebayo will still release the episodes.

Wow, so many people wanted to correct me about the swastika sign.

The fact that you all knew that the thing was ripped off by Nazi's should probably give you a hint that I know exactly the same thing as you do.

Jesus.

I used it in the correct context. If you take a look at what the seal means, you should see the god damn point.

All I'm doing here is connecting the dots people. Quit explaining things that aren't necessary.

---------------------------------------

On another note, AnimeSuki took it down, seeing as how it will be airing on Cartoon Network this year.

NarutoFan is taking away the torrents as well, and god knows how many other sites as well.

I personally, can watch the thing in RAW (and we all know it will be released as RAW, 122 came out today), so I'm cool if nobody chooses to sub it, although that won't be true, because someone definatly will be subbing it.

Anyway.....meh.

Also, at the DB comparison. No, again, it's nothing like DB, DBZ, DBGT, or anything D related.

Unless you are heavily without information, you will find that all of these types of Anime are actually just different interpertations of the old legends and stories and crap that the East overflows with, ranging from India, over China and Korea, to Japan.

The seals, monsters, abilities, etc. - they're all derivative from that. IF you're going to spot "Naruto = DB", you already fail at comparing, because the obvious is (du'h) a given.

The only thing you CAN compare these types of genre induced anime, are only basically three things. Story, the way it's told, and the animation that carries you through it.

You will notice, DB and Naruto, have _NOTHING_ in common in those departments.
Title: For those of you that are Naruto fans.

Naruto and DB have a lot of things in common. Naruto is simply a different aspect of that (and a much better one i might add).

That's the most limiting view ever... it consists out of so much more then that.

DB is derived from the legends of the Monkey King, but in a very odd way, correct?
