i know the cutscenes from FS2 are available from the stickied thread at the top of the page, but does anyone know about the FS1 cutscenes?
I assume they'd be compatible with the FS-Port.....
-
Kosh has all the cutscenes available to download.
http://oregonstate.edu/~plankerj/FS1movies/ For FS1
http://web.engr.oregonstate.edu/~plankerj/fs2movies/ For FS2

fantastic. cheers for the help, mate.
-
how do you make the movies play in the campaign when they should? where do you put them? thanks
-
You should be able to just put them in the main FS2 directory, and FS2_Open will play them automatically. If you're running the FS1 Port as a mod, it would be a good idea to put the FS1 cutscenes in the Port's specific mod folder, so that the FS1 intro doesn't overwrite the FS2 one. At least, that's how my obsessive-compulsive organizational self does it. :p
-
That's exactly how I do it Mongoose :D
Works perfectly for the MindGames intro too. Not that anyone is going to see that one for a while :D
-
thanks guys. another question, does anyone have, or know FTP for Silent Threat cutscenes?
-
Those are a little harder to find. I don't think they're up for download.
It is worth remembering that the ST cutscenes didn't have anthing to do with ST itself and were generally in avi format IIRC.
-
Yes, but one thing they did to was to establish the wonderful legacy of headz. :p
-
Argh! Is there any place I can get the Cutscenes without having to use a DivX codec to play them?
-
Install the xVid codec. That will play divX quite happily IIRC. (Some of the FS1 cutscenes are encoded using XVid anyway).
Or if you have retail you can always encode them yourself (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/freespace/movies.html).

Why arnt ST cutseens redially avalible? Many of us, or atleast half, have ST, so if FS1 and FS2 are up, why is not ST also? It would be a good addition.. methinks
-
The Silent Threat movies aren't really "cutscenes," in the true sense of the word. The FS1/2 ones play during the main campaigns and help to advance the plot. In contrast, the ST movies are Easter egg videos tucked away on the disk. That's probably why no one has ever bothered to host them yet. I don't have enough webspace to host all of them myself, but you'd only need about 60 or so megs to do so. Maybe someone with more webspace could help you out, or someone might be able to upload them to the FTP server.
-
It's basically a matter of server space. I did offer them up for Kosh to download when he was getting the movies off of me for his site but he didn't have the space to do so.
