My concept for a heavy troop transport. Heavily armored, slightly larger than the argo, and incredibly manueverable do to the placement of the engine pods

Not bad. That big flat octagon at the back needs something though.
I'd be temped to fit a large pair of grappling arms on those sides too :D
-
For some reason, I think it looks Shivan.
-
It's completely Terran.
-
It's probably the engine spread. That's something more Shivan then Terran.
-
Too basic, and too, um, straight, i.e.; there's nothing poking very far out of the sides. And it definately needs something on the nose, other than that flat octagon thingy :)
-
personally I think it could be Vasudan, old school.

I agree that theres not enough detail yet but I made it long and straight so that it has a minimal profile while aproaching the dock points of larger enemey ships and that flat thing on the nose is going to be the transports main dockpoint. I don't want to put anything on the nose that would iget in the way when it tried to dock
-
makes me think of O-R-B.
-
the reason that you are thinking shivan is that the engine spread is Hades, which we all know incorporated Shivan tech. As soon as we see that spread, we see Hades.
-
i like everything but that front is strange, oh yeah and add somthin on the back in between the engines
-
It's a Raider battlewagon from B5, only subtly different.
-

It's a good model, but in this particular shot I keep imagining sparks coming out of the jets, with Flash Gordon at the controls ;)
-
I added a bit more detail and fixed the weird geometry on the lower right engine. I added a main engine on that big flat spot in the back and added some heavy armor plating and foward guns on the nose and windows inbetween the ribs

I still think it needs some kind of fin, and somthing to better secure the dock point, like two big braces
-
The beveling can be left out. It looks bad with the beveling, but everything else looks great.
-
I removed most of the beveling becasue it did look bad and adding braces wer a good idea so I added them too

Looks alienish.
-
Yeah it looks like something I'd expect to latch onto my skin and start sucking. Although seeing as its a troop transport (and therefore would stick to the "skin" of a target ship), it isn't such a bad idea. And the back legged engines are just...egh...try pulling em in a little more, connect them more to the ship, and maybe remove one or two.
-
It still looks like a Raider battlewagon, and the front bit looks sort of Shivan.
-
One comment I will make is that this thing, as it stands, has a lot of polygonization (i.e. things that look like polys that you'd never see on an actual ship; that's why the face beveling you had looked so wrong, for the record). I'm really not one to complain as a lot of my models suffer from the same thing in places, but those arms really struggle, to the point of needing to be reworked. Maybe you can make a break in them around the dockpoint so that the arms are independent and can act more like shock absorbers so that the delicate airlock doesn't get damaged in breaching/boarding ops.
Also, working in some extra sides and round elements, particularly in the dock, might be very useful. The standard FS terran dockpoint is round, and will not map particularly well to that hexagonal port.

I integrated the braces into the hull of the ship and added some dockpoints along the side in argo style, I also took a shot at adding turrets and textures (nothing original obviously). comments

Use a different tile for the ribs, so they stand out more.
-
Looks much better. I approve.
-
The ship looks good, but i don't really like the engine section..
-

I replaced some of the textures, which version is better
-
That looks cool.
-
How does one use those side docking ports with the engines spread out like that?
-
I better liked the old one. I can't tell a reason why.
-
I think, if you move the engine pods more twards the center of the ship, you'll have a more ballanced model, but then you'd need to work on the back end to make the thing look right. Perhaps if you added somekind of Lateral docking port, so it will stick out less when it's docked. as it is, it's going to be an easy target.
Oh, and I like the look. verry T in style.
-
The textures are just too plain and uniform. Make it deimos/argo textures and make the ribs each a little different. And the engines are still blegh...
-
I've totally converted the model everything from lods to paths for every subsystem

the only thing missing is a name I was thinking GTT Atlas

You may want to use something a little darker on the main hull, though that is one of the best uses I've seen with that AWACS texture.
-
looks good in-game. Try making the textures flow a little better and the engine pods darker. Otherwise it's pretty good.
-
I personally don't like it (the design or the texture), but good work. :)
-
I'm quite impressed, nice work. I think the ribs (or the main section, either one really) need a darker texture to distinguish them from the main section. :)
-
I tweaked the texture colors a bit

Looks good to me. It really helped a lot when you put the texture on it. It seemed to be so much more of a troop transport when the texture came on...
But before that happened...that thing was SCREAMING Star Control!!! Lol
-
i wouldn't call it an Atlas, the atlas is a bomber.
Sleipnir was the eight legged steed which carried Odin. perhaps a fitting name for the transport which carries troops into battle?
-
Sleipnir is much more fitting, but is there a bomber named atlas. I know theres an athena
-
yes there is, [cancel]
i do have the model not sure who made it without digging.
-
so is that pronounced "Slay-pen-Ear" or "Slay-pin-Ear:?
-
Slayp-ner (that's how I pronounce it anyway)
-
I just noticed that the pof for this thing is abnormally large for some reason, 1.28 mb
