20,000 of optimized Galactica.....  Time for some turretting... and then landing bay/launchtube details... I forsee the uber BSG model will be around 30k. I hope your machines can run this.

Wow...and what's that X-wing doing in there? :D

I'd love to play a BSG mod, can't wait for the release.

can you raise those armor plates on the sides of the back of the front part? or is that too many polies

Gotta save the poly's.... still need room for all her turrets and launchbay details. When those are finished, I'll see if there's enough room to model ALL panels.

She's a testiment to your skill Omni, well done :)

Tanx dude. Now if only this kind of work paid for the bills......

Ok, does anyone know how the measurement system works in FS2? I set all my measurements in 3dsmax to their canon sizes.... when I play it in fs2 its much larger. I visually calibrated the FS2 sizes into 3dsmax and a typical fighter turns out to be 2-4 feet long. That can't be right.

IIRC PCS contains a scaling thing. Mind you, I've never even used PCS, this is all from stuff I read on the forums.

Yep. PCS does a 20:1 scaling by default. You can change that from the options.

Actually from my experience PCS works much better with that 20:1 scaling than it does with 1:1 scaling.  Max units are conveinent, but before you convert, if you're going the PCS route, group everything and scale uniformly to 5%.

If you have 3D Exploration, you can also scale it when you export it to a .cob. 5% is about fighter size, so work up from there.

He's not scaling in PCs though.

Omni, bro, make sure that your units are set up to use the default max units.
One max unit = 1 FS meter. Anything other than the default max units gives odd off-sized results.

I learned that from personal experience. :)

The Galaxic-whatever is pretty too. ;)

Wow... I got everything scaled correctly now. Now I lost all sense of scale. Perhaps if I change the FOV settings I can get that sense of "smallness" back. FS2 is weird!!! With default sizes and fov settings, its almost pointless to model the lower hangar deck and launch tubes. I feel claustrophobic and cramped alread just in the main landing deck which is already huge. The lower hangar deck is less than 30% its height, My ambitions for re-creating the launch tube experience is now shot.

Try playing around with the -fov parameter.

Fov helps alot. If you want a sense of scale go for a higher value.

just convert the ship out bigger.

and we shall need to talk about launch bay details, I have code made just for this (can be used for otherr things)

Don't worry there are lod's without the 9000 polygon ribs. Remember the older post I made of my progress... those will be the lod's.

The problem is, I like to fight close to friendly capital ships so their turrets help me out...

What!?  So in actuality your "kill" ratio is attributed to the cap ship you hide near? (points figner and does pod person scream)... ;)

Hehe good strategy. Hey Omni, you didn't notice the X-wing BEWFORE you posted it? Why didn't you just use the old skool raider as a placeholder?

Oh and a low poly version (with turrets, under 12k would be nice) for us "little people"...

Lastly if you watched the last episode that title should be redone to "On the 7th day God screwed Baltar"...

Baltar is just doing god's will. Just like the various religious thread posters here at HLP...

...wait, they're Cylons! :nervous:

I'm not particularly religious but man it just struck me as wrong when he was going up the stairs to join naked number six and said "God's will be done" as he's unzipping his fly... :)

If the FPS are at 56.1 or your machine, omni, maybe the poly count is too much.

Screen cap takes 20 fps off at the moment I press print screen. The lods werent implemented yet as well.
