hmm... looks like there are still a few bugs in the environment mapping code

This is just me being random, but if it's a moon and there is no wind to drive surface waves, shouldn't it be mostly flat?

It looks very jagged. And now come there's that sharp "tear" in the lighting down the middle?

Lots of potential, I'll give you that. Nice work.

NICE! I claim Omni as part of the RTII team as by defualt he just made Macross Island. Of course it should be frozen over now but that's ok Have Trashman send you Deadelus and Prometheus and then have lots of bodies of dead sailors floating out the vessels.

[I'm kidding ;) ]

Question... Can you have naval vessels "floating" on the surface fo the "water"?

:shaking:

It's actually come up lately; the Star Fox mod has asked for ships that can only move in a 2d plane, which would be exactly how surface ships would be treated.

Coudln't you just do a hack by give the ships in question 0.0 thrust in the vertical plane?

I don't imagine the water moves....

...does it?

No, because said ships could still pull up "sail" out of the water.  Motion in Freespace coordinates is defined as forward+lateral+vertical, and orientation control.  There's no side-to-side spin at all, and even if you kept a surface unit from "pulling up", you'd still hit the problem that it would bank as it turned and wind up in a different plane of movement than the surface you're trying to confine it to.
