Title: FS1 Models
Post by: LeGuille on February 23, 2005, 04:01:07 pm
I used to have the entire Great War and Silent Threat files on my computer, but I have since lost the CD and have had to reformat without backing it up...

Anyways, I was wondering if it is possible to incorporate the original FS1 models of the Valkyrie, Apollo, and other fighters now abandoned in FS2, into the normal FS2. If so, can someone supply me with the .vp packets? :p

I am trying to make a campaign of wierd events.
Example being: Babylon 5, when the Babylon 4 is suddenly reappearing in the distant nebula, and no one can see it for a certian amount of time... then it 'fades' in.

Oh, by the way: are there any transparency mods for the ships? Ghost ships would be cool.

I'll do you one better: go check out the FS port.  Their forum is farther down in the "hosted" section, or you can jump there (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/forums/forumdisplay.php?&forumid=39).

So you're making a spoof campaign?  Anyway you should check out Deus Ex Machina and just another day, they are somewhere on this list (fs2.kissifrot.com).  Oh and before someone else does it:

Powering up Photon Beam cannons, bearing 289 by 57 by 250

:welcome:

Exits are to your right and left, and flamethrowers are under your seat. Be careful, though, as they are sometimes filled with water, so bring your own Napalm or try to club someone with the non-working shotguns in the weapon closet. Also, be careful while wandering the ventilation shafts. If you see a large, five-limbed creature that looks really pissed, it’s probably Carl, give him your lunch and he'll hopefully go away.  If you see a big desert creature its probably Raa, give him a fish and he might leave your head alone.  In the event of an emergency, the n00bs will be the last into the escape pods, if there’s any room left. The Plasma rifles in the forward locker are released only under authorization of an Admin, :V: God, or hyperintelligent shade of the color blue. Oh, and whatever you do, don't mention the word Freespace followed by the number 3.

Thanks for the photon welcome, lol.

But my campaign isn't anything like DEM (I palyed it and it was.. AAAAH holy crap! scared me. But funny as hell!).. It's a serious-like campaign. I've played around with FRED enough to know what I am doing.. I'm no expert, but as it goes, I will beat the crap out of the missions until It's what I want.

I have been lurking about the forums getting myself aquainted with what is what, who is who, and so on and so forth. Thanks again for the quick replies.

Ooh, a FREDder. ;7 Even better - a persistent, perfectionist FREDder. :D

May I suggest you check out the FRED Academy (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,28122.0.html)?  They'll help you hone your FRED skills and introduce you to a few sample campaigns. :)

Yep. Goober got there before I could but I was thinking as I read this that you might want to make a mission or two for the Academy.

Oh and if you you're out of touch enough to have not heard of the FS1 Port you might want to consider looking at the Source Code Project forum as quickly as you possibly can.

Yes. Once someone figures out how to get to the 'special feature' of my most recent builds, you can see what I mean. :D

Buh? It is if there's no reference material given with the exe... since anything and everything could be a potential trigger.

Perfectionist would describe me pretty well there, Goob. I spent the last two days re-hashing a re-introuduction of the HOL script, and a mission to boot. I've decided to listen to alot of Vasudan talk lately, And have tried to make the wings and ships in the name of vasudan tongue.

Vesh'na-rogh (Vesh NAA Row) for example would be the current name of my HOL Vasudan-Shivan Hybrid ship. (Special thanks to Bobboau for that sweet re-skinning of the Mentu and Hatshepsu.)

HOL (Hammer of Light) has always been a congregation religious fanatics in my opinion. Thus they are going to exterminate the verminous terrans and thier defiling of Vasuda sacredness...It fits well for them Ecspecially since this new node near Ikeya has sparked intrest in the GTVI. Now, this is not the main thing going on in my campaign... oh no no.. there's much more then that.

In your all's opinion, would NASA becalled the Sol Space Agency in the future? :drevil:

Not really, that was more of a request thing *points* (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,30719.0.html)

A little more on-topic: Another way to do this might be to make textures that are partially transparent, ie don't have a full alpha channel. You can certainly do windows on ships.

we're a lot alike ;) although i don't beat the crap out of it as much as you do. i just keep beating it until i'm fed up with it and just leave it as it is.

[EDIT] dammit, more timewarps.
