Sorry for the not-entirely-explanatory title, was the first thing that came into my head. There's a glimmer of hope here - not much, but more than we've had in years - and yet people do something like this.
And next we'll probably see Israeli tanks moving back into Palestinian areas, and then suicide bombers in response, and then it'll go on and on. I hope I'm wrong, but it's what I expect.

I highly doubt that if either Israel or Palestine are really and firmly committed (which I still doubt) to ending this violence that they will retaliate to this. Hopefully the Palestinians will put a crackdown on this, so that Israeli tanks won't have to.
This just sucks. :doubt:

Ironically enough: Russia considering weapons sale to PA (http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1109301662102) - "Lavrov: PA leadership has proven ability to keep situation under control."
:sigh:
-
No offense, Sandwich, but I'm considering writing off the entire area as irredeemable.
EDIT: Let's do the time warp again....
-
And so it goes on...:blah:

I'm not going to get into the same old discussion here, at least not while the bodies are still fresh and in the streets, but many countries sell weapons to Israel, and it is responsible for at least as many ciivlian casualties as Hamas & Co.
Very stupid move, this bombing. It always sucks when innocents suffer needlessly.

Only thing I have to say has to do with "collateral damage" (a term which I don't like all that much either) vs. "specifically targetted". :hopping:
Anyway, this article (http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1109301662303) has more details, and will undoubtably be updated more frequently.

Russias arming Syria, Iran and now the PA is because of Putins ongoing war with the Oligarchs, 7 of which are jewish and a few currently reside in Israel, I believe theres even an Israeli tv show about them.
Oh and I'd put aside any hopes for peace for the next few decades, the mid east is probably the most important bit of real estate in the world at the minute and for the next wee while and is going to be centre stage for a bit yet.

*sticks with BBC* No offence.

The problem is that more die as collateral damage than do from being specifically targeted (in this situation); so it sort of balances out. Either way innocent people die, so it's all bad.

People are so stupid... :blah:

That's one way to look at it, if you're wanting to play the numbers game. I tend to look at it from most courts' point of view, where they try to determine intent when passing judgement.

On this, at least, we agree. :blah:

The problem is that 'the other side' won't always share the same point of view about, well, anything. Which is the root of pretty much all human conflict, I guess.
