I just downloaded FS2 from that Underdogs website, legally hosted and everything. It lacks the .vp files.
I put the .vp files from my other installation of FS2 into that folder (I no longer have the FS2 CD's that's why I had to download it)
Some of the stuff doesn't work, though. Half of stu_fs2.vp works, such as the in battle "Beautiful Kill, Sir! I'm going down! Bandits incoming!" play, but the special things, such as "This is the GTD Collosus, what's your status Alpha 1?" don't play.
How do I fix this?

the voice files have been cut out to save on download space. there was a bittorrent hosted by the TBP people, but too many assholes leeched it.

Hey PhReAk, I haven't seen you in you years :D.
Anyway, so would I be able to go about doing that myself with getting them to work? With the files I have, I've put them in the FS2 folder like they were in the full game's directory. I've got them all from the original game except for warble_fs2.vp, which is just the music and I can live without that.
However it doesn't use them is the thing. I'm thinking maybe there is a config file that needs changing or something.

Update:
I've got warble_fs2.vp now too.
I've got ALL the .vp files from my other computer, put them into the FS2 folder with the HOTU version, but in game it still doesn't use them. What do I do to make it work? The files are there, the game isn't using it though.

So, I guess you only have the HOTU version because you don't need the CD's to play it, right?
Well.. this is just a blind guess, but try moving the HOTU fs2.exe to your original installation dir insead of your original VP files to the HOTU dir ... don't know how fs2's cdcheck works, but if it's only something with the .exe that should save time...

I think there's a bunch of unneccessary stuff in the data folder. Try moving everything under the data folder, besides the 'players' folder, to another directory.
Edit: reworded for great justice and clearer understanding.

That did it!
Thanks, now I can play with the full experience again.

They should change that link to my FAQ on the HotU page from simply saying how to find the missing files to how to make the missing files WORK :D

If you grab the info off the FTP or off of emule, I have explicit directions in the readme's in both sections saying you have to clean out the data folder.
Can't force someone to read the README :)
Glad you got it to work though.
Cheers!
